Outside Of Everything

As with other recent #disquietjunto submissions, started off far too complex - this time aiming for a modular patch with CV controlled phase transition from liquid to frozen, macro controlling various parameters - tempo division, modulation depth, Beads 'frostiness', etc. Recording is a cut back version of this idea after running into unrelated technical issues (found out after recording caused by output module not being plugged in, explaining weird clipping I just couldn't figure out while recording.)

For @disquiet junto project 520, 17th Dec 2021: On The Clock, Stop procrastinating ...

This is a nice "end of the year" project. I spent 2 hours this Friday morning working on this 18 years old track.
It started as a slow jam with my friend  Ringo Estrella playing drums, I was playing upright bass.
It was a pointless jam, but I liked the groove, so I kept it aside for further use.
5 years later  I went back to it and added acoustic guitar to make something out of it (mimicking a bass lick to create a sort of hook) It was still pointless so I shelved again.
3 years later I need a slow groove for a project, considered this one and added a Hammond organ to glue it together. Still didn't work but kept it aside promising to finish that later.
Fats forward 5 years and I fulfilled my promise , went back to it, recorded some melodies on my accordina...and then did nothing with it, didn't mix it, nothing.
This morning, another 5 years later, inspired by this project I decided to just mix it and share it, as pointless as it is, just to get rid of it...

I took that photo in Asturias, Spain, 6 years ago.

Procrastination (slow jam) disquiet0520

This is the first movement of four in From the Bottom of a Well (Från botten av en brunn) based on Haruki Murakami's novel Kafka on the Shore. The the sounds were designed from, and the music was written from a grounded theory analysis of the book. The piece was performed on the 16th of December 2021 by Robert Ek, clarinet; Kevin Kirs Verstege, cello; and Rikard Vilhelm Lindell, eurorack at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS (2013) - Original Score

The original idea for this track came when I took delivery of a new toy a EMF v1.2 which is a handheld device that lets you listen to electromagnetic fields. I used this to record (using an old Olympus dicataphone) the sounds coming from my Android phone and with the EMF connected up to my Behringer Neutron synth to filter the sounds. This sample was then loaded up into the AU app on my iPad and then manipulated with the effects Bleass Slow Machine and Rymdigare.
