Short guitar improvisation (consisting of overdubbed layers) of one minute in length. Stratocaster (buzzing), Delay (tape crinkle), Logic (recording). 

Gentle innit?
But it also contains an unsettling moment amidst all the warmth and tenderness.

Thanks, Tobias & Marc, for this fun assignment!

My process in a nutshell: Using two instances of Ableton's Sampler loaded with my guitar recordings, I sequenced the provided "John Cage" chord, using the first version of Marc's MIDI file, so it's actually the wrong Cage chord --- hence the title "noncage". 
With some pushing around of this source material, a slow-morphing, overlapping atmospheric track fell into place. 
To top it all off, I just flipped the whole thing, turning it into a lovely background echoey backwards guitar concoction. 
So as to make things more listenable, I provided a little bit of supplementary fodder and smoothed out some of the rougher edges in Cubase.

Disquiet0594 - Buzzing Beyond Martin Remix

i very much enjoyed the lush and gentle tones of https://soundcloud.com/equinox-deschanel (Joe McMahon)'s https://soundcloud.com/equinox-deschanel/lonely-pelican-no-more-disquiet0593 (which contains elements of https://soundcloud.com/mikey_a/the-pelican-finds-a-friend-disquiet0592 and https://soundcloud.com/rabmusiclab/the-loneliest-pelican) and thought instantly about how it would sound stretched out, more shoegazey.
i used paulstretch to create a extended noise bed, imported it into ableton, a short edit to trim the beginning and then stretched the original track to match the timing of the noise part.
then i used the warping section to fix the pitch of the stretched track to original pitch
applied lots of fx - reverb for the noise parts and echo to the original, then on the master channel some granular fx by puremagnetic to add a bit of motion and chaos
panned the noise channel hard left and the original wav hard right
tape emulation applied at the end for added texture

Disquiet Junto Project 0594: Threemix The Assignment: Remix an asynchronously produced trio.

I didn’t have a lot of time the past two weeks, so while I started a couple of things, I didn’t finish anything.
Going through these half developed sketches, to see if anything might be a good starting idea for this week’s remix challenge, I was drawn in by a loop I made using @Melondruie and @Fake-Genius piece Quietude Disturbed from week 2 (https://soundcloud.com/melondruie/quietude-disturbed-disquiet0592).
I thought the piece had a bit of a Burial feel to it, so as a sound design challenge, I tried to make a Burial kind of beat to go with it, using sounds I made tapping and scraping an old Zither I bought second hand (and that I mostly tend to use as a place to put my headphones, apparently).

Going through the playlist for week 3, I noticed that pieces based on @encym ’s week 2 contribution Tête à tête (https://soundcloud.com/encym/tete-a-tete-disquiet0592 built on the week 1 piece of @andreas-kitzmann) fit harmonically with Quietude Disturbed. Also, these pieces, and especially @RabMusicLab’s La tête éblouissante (https://soundcloud.com/rabmusiclab/la-tete-eblouissante) fit rather well stylistically. So, I wondered if I could mash these pieces up together in some way. At first, I intended not to use the Burial-esque beat, because… well… because it’s such a blatant ripoff. But by that time, I’d been hearing the loop for a while, and the sound had nested in my head: other rhythmic ideas didn’t cut it. Neither did doing away with a rhythmic element altogether.

So, there you have it.

The Meierkord family came by to say hello to us in this month of July. Henrik and I took the opportunity to play something together. Nothing demanding: a sort of 'warm up', which has become a 'session' in my small living room. We mostly used some 'loops' I had on my JamMan, improvising over them, or even more freely. The recordings are quite 'lo-fi', mainly coming from a dictaphone placed in the center of the room, but we believe they are a good testimony of our musical and human entente and of the pleasure of meeting each other in person. Thanks so much for everybody who took the effort to provide these samples - it's been fun working with them! My approach was to select some of my favourite samples, and prepare by creating a looped version of each. I then transferred them to modules with sample playback capability on my modular system. The looped samples create a slowly moving bed with the non-looped ones triggered at different pitches with a short envelope.

Process was fairly on the nose with a literal interpretation of the assignment - three separate oscillators, each going through its own envelope, manually triggered to create overlapping sequence 1-2-3-2. Manually playing the filter in accordance with general brightness level increasing from 1-2-3 then back down from 3-2 again. Some randomly phasing modulation and soaked in resonating feedback.

I went for a sample based approach for this - the two sources used are

* BBC Sound Effects (http://bbcsfx.acropolis.org.uk) / Cine Projectors / An 8 mm projector running at 24 f.p.s.
* sfsma / PianOrgaN Film Books of Incidental Music, Vol. 1: Grotesque and Comedy Music (https://www.sfsma.org/ARK/22915/pianorgan-film-books-of-incidental-music-vol-1-grotesque-and-comedy-music/) / Jewish-Irish Comedy Theme (http://www.sfsma.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Grotesque-2.aif)

I then played these through my modular system, manually fading in and out and slowing down, combined with live contact mic noises and ambiance from a background loop (also from BBC Sound Effects, lost the exact reference), all into generous reverb.
