Sometimes you're in a timeless mood, when you just want a great chuggy underground groove that doesn't end. This mix is for such a mood. No big drops, no songs, no epic synths...just the rhythm and some rhythmic sprinkles. Cannot wait to play a set like this soon for you in my own Brooklyn. Finally got my recording back from LIB and I'm immediately transported back to the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced that weekend. 

Between the heat, dust and being around tens of thousands of people after going through a pandemic, it's safe to say I was a little rusty at festivaling. On top of it, my legs felt like floppy noodles from how anxious I was to play the prime set time Friday night at the Junkyard. This is something I experience often before gigs, the sweats, self deprecating internal thoughts, imposter syndrome. I questioned if I belonged here or if I earned it. Then I mixed in and immediately felt at home. I thought to myself "Bitch you know what you're doing" and went on to play one of those "highlights of my career" sets for me personally. 

The rest of the night and weekend was a breeze, and the magic of LIB was amplified. I was able to see the thousands of smiling faces in front of me, the above and beyond details The Do Lab had added and updated, and realized this was so many people's first festival back and they could not be happier about it. I could not be happier about it. 

I hope that you enjoy it and that you're happy too.

It has been quite some time since the last time we gathered for a night of MBTS. I wanted to take some time after the pandemic to be quiet and see how the dance music scene would evolve, and what sounds would come out of the standstill that was Covid. Now that I have a good sense of where I want to be sonically, and what kind of energy I want to spread onto dance floors, I am ready to restart MBTS in 2023. This was my first trip to the Joshua Tree Music Festival.  It definitely lived up to and exceeded any expectations I may have had.  The beautiful community of music enthusiasts it attracted was second to none.  They came with me wherever I went musically.  There's nothing like being physically present, but I'm trusting some of the magic from that beautiful evening under stars will translate via this recording into something that will leave your soul smiling. Enjoy!

A fresh face in NYC this past year, 2022 was quite a debut year for the west-coast transplant. Building on over a decade of left coast residencies [The Endup, Nocturnal Code, The Regency Ballroom, Strategik] Cavalier honed and communicated his signature expressive, dance-forward house sound to happy crowds in London, San Francisco, New York City, Los Angeles and Miami. No stranger to adventure, 2022 saw Cavalier play new venues and festivals like The Knockdown Center, House of Yes, Love Burn as well as more intimate venues like TBA Brooklyn, Eris, beyond. The peak moment (of self-actualization) was a soul-quenching resident DJ set for Bubbles & Bass at Burning Man on Friday morning just before N2N and David Hohme. The San Francisco native is onto something special, and is here to stay in NYC.
