2019 03 | Monthly Spread

With the end of March comes another Monthly Spread installment, independently curated by @DOPECHEDDAR and aimed to deliver recently discovered international electronic gems.

This month’s ‘Spread’ includes two newly released tracks from pizza slinging @Emissions_Recordings’ label boss @P_Leone, named one of ‘25 Artists You Need To Watch In 2019’ by @Mixmag and totally living up to the acclaim. P.Leone’s ‘Walked Into My Life’ combines high-energy and heavy-hitting techno elements with a modified vocal sample from Lee Fields’ ‘Could Have Been’, resulting in what feels like an instant classic track that will endure the test of time on the dancefloor. ‘What Could I Have Done’ is also included in this playlist and is defined by a movement-inducing kick groove decorated by delayed synth stabs and heady highs. @DJLilyPita is a Jakarta based DJ and producer who has received a lot of attention for the recently released ‘Sunshine EP’ on the @Lauter-Unfug imprint. ‘Sequ3nce,’ a deep and melodic progressive house track, is highlighted in this playlist and is driven by a memorable deep baseline and rising synth pattern. The track really progresses in a beautiful way that should to be appreciated from start to finish. Be sure to check out the ‘Sunshine EP’ in its entirety! @BModular is another talented artist highlighted in this month’s ‘Spread’. Francesco Cappellini (b.mod) is a modular-focused techno artist pursuing Sound Engineering in Glasgow who has recently released ‘Expatriate’, a four track + two remix EP on the @StickyGround imprint. ‘Sly Me’ is a track that highlights b.mod’s skill with modular hardware and includes a unique assortment of electronic sounds that are carefully crafted and arranged. Ransom Note Records are hyped to once again be working with Bristol-based DJ & producer-extraordinaire, Chez de Milo! This time, we’ve put together a remix package of his breakthrough So It Goes EP, showcasing some of today’s hottest producers, taking us on a whirlwind tour of the current European dance scene.

First out of the traps is Belgian-Tunisian DJ & producer, Sara Dziri, who’s delivered a truly epic version of Durga Lesson. Being resident at the legendary Fuse Club Brussels has clearly given Sara a deep insight into what makes for a proper dancefloor banger - a skill she has employed here in ecstatic abundance! Bouncy & fun, yet means absolute business.

Berlin’s Mr TC’s steps up next, with an incendiary, techno-tastic reimagining of So It Goes. Containing more bleeps than a supermarket checkout, this heads down groover pushes all the right buttons to get you super-marching!

South-West England Folk-Tronica duo Orbury Common, of PRAH Recordings fame, are professionals at exploring the warped night life of this Sceptred Isle. Their take on Sister Dex does not disappoint either, with a mechanical underpinning that’s beautifully juxtaposed by the natural feel of the synth harmonies and sample laden melodies.

Rounding off the package, is Manchester based newcomer Lapalace, dropping breakbeat bombs and distorted detonations in her assault on Wadham. Not for the faint of heart, Laplace, aka Lily Mumby, turns the noise up to eleven, in her brief, bassy rejig of Chez’s meditative original piece.

Info: I am happy to present our first tape release by The Jaffa Kid as part of the brand new Digital Artefacts series.

The series is an ode to the sound of the 90s, from Electro, IDM and Jungle to further different experimental stuff and sounds. The choice of tape as format seemed fitting for the aesthetic of the series.

The first EP comes from UK based The Jaffa Kid (previously on 030303, Dischi Nottetempo, Gated Recordings and more) and is a solid mixture of Electro, Techno and beyond.
