This is the first episode of "Legible Practices", the official ReGen podcast! The intention is to feature all the people who are inspiring us to make of ReGen a true project for community development🍀

On this first cut, we featured Rahul Bhargava, a brilliant researcher and educator, who is co-author of databasic.io. He took us on a journey behind how data has historically been used to keep people in fear, whereas playfulness is the antidote to get all of us data-creative.

On this episode of Legible Practices, we dived into Data Democracy, a project created by Jane Kunze, from Dokk1. 

Jane saw many years before some of her colleagues that citizens needed to trust their local library more when it came to their digital life. Online technologies were already moving so fast in the early 10's, that confusion, frustration and self-preserving ignorance was gradually seeing in library-users regarding the potential and threats that came with the web🌗

Data Democracy went through the trial-and-error of creating a space for the "average citizen" to drop by, and get curious about how grasping the use of data better could improve their daily life radically🚀

Until now, we have shared with you the most inspiring people behind the ideation of ReGen. Now, we want to show off the true protagonists of the project: our participants🌟  

On this conversation, Ida and Daniela from the Norwegian team share their motivations behind joining ReGen, and the thrill of creating community research. Besides addressing the process that led to their topic ("Unwritten rules and youth awareness"), the following two quotes sum our talk up very neatly:

Ida: ”The project woke up something personal in me, while meeting all of you guys, and traveling abroad to work in the way we did”🚀

Daniela: ”It was very interesting not to see what was actually coming. I really like to keep things a bit more open, and it was very nice to see that nobody in the camp really knew it either”🔎

The last team is finally featured!

Aannguaq René J Hansen and Lilian Aronsen shared strong testimonies on behalf of the Greenlandic team⚡

From how their government gives them double-edge life advices, to how young people are recovering their ancestral culture through tattoos, Lilia and Aannguaq shared very heartful insights on Greenlandic diversity and challenges💡

Aannguaq: "Despite the uncertainty in the beginning, we managed to solve the puzzle. It's a very interesting project, and I think it brings a very different way of data-collection, which can be huge"

Lilian: "My interviewee didn't know about the Danish commonwealth we are a part of. After our interview, she told me that my questions were so interesting, that now she had a small identity crisis"

Combining dub techno and other old school stylistic influences. The mellow atmosphere takes you through a hazy relaxing world. Show the love with a like and a repost!

The main lead was made with Massive and recorded through Klarkteknik's KT-2A and EQP-KT. The drums were compressed on a DBX 160X. The processing was recorded through and Allen & Heath mixer.

Au début, il y eut l’écriture d’un livre, Le disque qui parle  : un cabinet de curiosités sonores glanées par des collectionneurs. Puis vint l’idée d’une création sonore sous forme d’un grand détournement en piochant dans cette matière bouillonnante. Sommeil paradoxal a été voulu comme un film pour les oreilles, creuset d’hallucinations nocturnes dont les personnages auraient été sélectionnés parmi les voix qui peuplent ces sillons. 

Né au cœur des châteaux, Julien Sarti aka le Gnou a, depuis, migré et en a profité pour collecter, bidouiller, enregistrer et créer des émissions de radio, des documentaires et autres objets sonores.

Coming from an Indian family while getting to grow up in Copenhagen, Shub has dealt, from an early age, with questions regarding how cultural origins and social behaviour work, which has led him to create a space where multiple mindests can coexist.
