Crystal Gazing 1 - Could Be Too Intense From the Dark

When I first sit at the piano each day, it's important to warm up my fingers. Anyone who uses their muscles to run, dance or play any sport has to warm up their muscles. stretch them and orient them to what they are doing. Piano is no different. I have strong hands without a hint of arthritis. When I was still gigging, playing harder R&R, I had callouses on my fingers which often split and bled by the end of the night. My music style has changed over the years. But serious playing without warming up means the hands won't be coordinated and will be harder to control. The fingers need to know where to go whether I am looking at them or not. They need to be able to judge the distances between the keys and they need to be limbered up. So I do a variety of exercises playing up and down the keys in a variety of different key signatures. I unusually to play 3-5 hours at a stretch - because I love it that much. There is so much more music to play. If a warm up sounds decent I post it. All of my music are improvs but most of them have an intent, a story to tell. This one doesn't. I'm just having fun.

To lose hope is to feel the heart go numb, to no longer care about anyone, and even less, about oneself.  Faith and hope are so closely allied as to be at times indistinguishable, but it is faith that comes first giving birth to hope and nurturing it.  Christmas is also a call to hope springing from a faith that dares to believe the impossible.
