A great track from the 'Broken Flowers' soundtrack and one of the few songs that i wasn't tired listening to even after hours of remix work.

Sometimes described as trip-hop Waldeck's songs have a very calm and laidback theme. They often consist of mellow vocals sung either by Joy Malcolm or Brian Amos (although sometimes they consist of only Waldeck's instrumentals). While some people have mixed feelings towards the male-female vocal fluctuations, others feel that they offer versatility in the sound while still maintaining the unique style of his music.

Killdeer's singing style is rooted in blues, she's a storyteller. Listening to PHOEBE KILLDEER & THE SHORT STRAWS you might hear hints of Noise Rock, pounding inventive drumming, white noise, feedback, David Lynch’s disturbing climatic atmosphere, The Bad Seeds, Beasts of Bourbon and The Birthday Party. The sound is a perfect clash of raw, edgy, dirty blues with hints of industrial noise, reverb guitar, Yma Sumac’s Exotica and 60's Southern Soul.  Expect everything.

Berlin-based, Australian singer/songwriter Phoebe Killdeer, lead vocalist of PHOEBE KILLDEER & THE SHORT STRAWS, first gained attention in 2004 when she lent her powerful vocals to '80s pop ballads and reprises of new wave classics for the group NOUVELLE VAGUE. She was featured as a vocalist on several tracks on the second Nouvelle Vague album, Bande à Part, and toured widely with the group. Prior to that Killdeer offered up her singing skills to several prominent electronic artists, including Zero dB for their track "Sunshine Lazy" and Basement Jaxx, with whom she performed the song "Tonight" for their Kish Kash album.

Phoebe Killdeer’s collaboration with Nouvelle Vague continues, mainman Marc Collin providing his production skills on early recordings and releasing her new album, ‘INNERQUAKE’, on his Kwaidan record label. Produced by Matt Verta Ray (Heavy Trash), ‘INNERQUAKE’ was recorded after two years of PHOEBE KILLDEER & THE SHORT STRAWS live shows, they travelled the world honing their powerful sound and undeniable energy, Phoebe’s distinctive vocals and a killer live show have transfixed audiences across the globe.

Ceasar K is a DJ, Producer, Turntablist and record collector from Beirut City.

The pioneer of the Breakbeat genre in both Lebanon and the Middle East since the late 90s, Ceasar is today an in-demand remixer and producer with numerous releases on reputable record labels worldwide as well as on his own,‘VL Records'.

VL is an indepedant EDM entity based in Beirut which is home for an internet radio, a record label as well as an online dance music shop.

Winner of the 2004 Heineken Found at Thirst DJ Competition and later on a Jury member in that same competition, he has performed throughout Lebanon, the Middle East, Europe and the USA either as a DJ, a live act or a turntablist.

His sets stand out as being highly original and technical with a touch of old school that also reflects in his music, which often carries subtle influences from both the 80s and the 90s.

His love for the old school and true DJing culture has also led him to open alongside some of his friends sharing the same passion, the first bar in the middle east dedicated to playing strictly vinyl records--Flipside is the place to be for all record collectors, vinyl DJs and everyone that is passionate about the best music format of all times.

Ceasar is also behind another unique concept venue in Beirut ‘The Silver Factory’ which is a real operating silverware factory in which he hosts undergound events on a regular basis—back to the basics—a purely industrial venue with just an earth shattering sound system and a bar.
