Little Drummer Boy - ELJURI

Eljuri is an Ecuadorian singer-songwriter/guitarist whose music is a mirror on this generation’s global fusion reflecting her Spanish and Lebanese heritage, the rhythms of her homeland, Ecuador, and the punk and rock & roll from the melting pot of her youth in New York City. Eljuri filters the daily cacophony of the streets into beautiful music with vital meaning. She floats, indeed soars to heights unreached by any other Latina electric guitarist. 

"La Lucha" is Eljuri's third solo album and includes 11 stellar tracks, This CD was released internationally on October 14, 2016.

La Lucha

The opening Latin Reggae track 'El Aire' from Eljuri's album "En Paz" is a special collaboration with Reggae icons Sly & Robbie. With a cool and laid back vibe, the track seems “to float” along roots riddims and Latin-montuno guitar licks.

Appalled and enraged by current political and social turmoil, Cecilia Villar Eljuri is once again turning to her music to express her frustration. Resist . . . Persist . . . Repeat. Testifying that the root of the problem is the amoral behavior of people in power, Eljuri delineates love vs. hate, good vs. evil in this lyrical declaration. The battle is on and Eljuri inspires us to fight for humanity, the community and liberty for all. Her arrangement choice of driving funk meets one-drop reggae supported by wah-wah guitar and seductive dub elements set the foundation for the powerful vocals and timely message.

Es la primera canción que se desprende del álbum 'Resiste: La Colección Reggae de Eljuri' y es una muestra más de que la parte “artivista” de Eljuri es una segunda piel creativa, con la que nuevamente deja claro el mensaje, esto tiene que cambiar: resiste‐persiste. Mensaje contundente que se mueve a través de un reggae con un sello particular donde el funk se permea de reggae a través de los wha wha de su guitarra y seductores elementos dub que dan el marco necesario al mensaje de la canción.

Expanding the sonic palette, DJ Ceci and Sir K put a new spin on this tune originally written in Eljuri’s native Ecuador. Demonstrating her impressive versatility, this remix allowed Eljuri (DJ Ceci) to dive deep into her love of latin, electronica and soulful roots music with the new instrumentation for this song. She tapped her long time sound engineer Kris Umezawa (Sir K) to meld the driving rhythms to be sure they pick you up and lead you to the dance floor.
