Zigghurath is the alter ego of Jolan Chen. This sound project emerged around 2018 after several years of studio recordings & live performances (Grown Below, Lighthousing). Inspired by nature and spirituality some introspective tracks were created and purposed for self meditation and consciousness. The evolution towards the creation and exploration of the majestic atmospheres of sound was evident. As a music enthusiast, a collection of sounds were built up during this proces and the intention of the project expanded. It emphasizes the existential and encourage listeners to join the sound journey to the inner core .
Nowadays Zigghurath is continuing his work and vision building mixes, creating tracks and allowing the full spectrum of sound without any boundaries. From 40 Hz sub dubs to dusky synthesized tones and soundscapes, worldly sounds and uplifting rhythms. There is always an underlying story that strives to connect all elements and beings together.

In the spring of 2018, The Calicos, six young guns from Antwerp, blew away the
jury of Humo’s Rock Rally with songs firmly rooted in the tradition of Wilco,
Ryan Adams, The War on Drugs or Jonathan Wilson, pedal steel guitar included.
They inscribed their names in Humo’s Rock Rally’s history alongside such
illustrious winners as Evil Superstars, Whispering Sons and Goose.
Singles ‘Our House’ (late 2018) and ‘Driftwood’ (early 2019) were a memorable
introduction and received a fair bit of airplay on our national radio stations.
These were just two of the tracks that fuelled a wonderful concert and festival
year, with a sold-out Arenberg as the absolute pinnacle.
Many bands would have their head in the clouds by now but not The Calicos.
As happens so often with Humo’s Rock Rally heroes (Novastar, Admiral
Freebee) and under the wing of Tobie Speleman (a.o. Geppetto & The Whales,
Blackwave), the sextet are taking their time to fine-tune their songs and sound
because they will settle for nothing less than a killer maiden album.
In just two years’ time The Calicos have matured considerably (incl. two new
members). The band is ready to appeal to a wide audience of music lovers and
develop into an alternative pop group with the ability to reconcile the
generations. Fact.
