Patrice Bäumel is the globetrotting producer and DJ whose music goes way beyond the dancefloor. The Dresden born ,Amsterdam based House and Techno champion grew up on a concoction of  Jazz, Depeche Mode and country music that (somehow) blossomed into a love of hardcore and gabba. Fast forwasrd a few years to when Hard Wax open a store in Dresden and Bäumel began to find his fingers on the records that would become his bread and butter.

Having been a longstanding resident at the late Trouw nightclub in Amsterdam, Patrice is more than well versed behind the decks and we are so excited to welcome him into the mix for i-D. Ahead of his set at Ibiza’s legendary Space next weekend press play on the deep tech sounds of Patrice Bäumel.

TURBO 173 - PERTH DRUG LEGEND - Bliss & Envy: Halfers on a Fishbowl

One half of Scottish duo Clouds, Perth Drug Legend tear off a solo EP of rugged, apocalyptic bloke-techno.

What more can be said about Clouds, young prodigies who have put out as much innovative techno in the past few years than anyone. The story takes a twist with a wealth of material being released by PDL, hot off a remix of Tiga’s Bugatti and releases on Resin and Westend Communications. The sound is reminiscent of Ghost Systems Rave, but there’s the feeling that things have gotten even more refined, something that smacks of a real subcultural movement. 

Opener Balquhidder Ruins is a stomping gate-crasher, the tempo pulled back just enough to feel the grit of industrial funk, everything restrained to it’s bare essentials.

We're delighted to present yet another Phi Phi progressive trip, this time around we get locked on to the sounds of Hiccup which comes backed up with a fantastic remix. Phi Phi's last outing - Alone, scored very well indeed and gained top spots on many charts. DJing still plays a huge part in this guys career and you never have to wait too long until his next gig.

Hiccup intros with a tough kick that packs a nice big punch and carries a cool click on the top end. In the background a cacophony of percussions are let loose and help create a solid platform for the track. Dark, sinister vocals ring out and lead us up to the first short break before the track gets into full on mode with a strong probing offset bassline. That bassline really gets the groove into full swing alongside those expertly crafted drum patterns. The main break throws up a rich string that contrasts beautifully with the sinister vocal sound. A proper progressive monster that will definitely hit any floor hard.

Rise And Fall aka Russian based DJ and producer Anton Vishniakov turn up for remix duties and once again we are treated to some first class sounds from this guy. So far, along with his other persona Templ8, he has currently released tracks on labels like Bonzai Progressive, Monster Deep, Flux Delux (Recover), Clear Water Music, Pitch Music, Alien Technology, Aoses Recordings, Alien Technology Recordings, Green Martian and the mighty JOOF Recordings. Specialising in deep and techy high quality sound along with energetic and atmospheric grooves there can be no doubt that Anton will continue to garner huge support for a long time to come. This remix certainly gears towards his more energetic side with a driving bassline that forces your feet to move. A solid construction filled with punchy kicks and a tight drum section is the perfect fodder for the floors. On top of the bass we get a nice round of synths and FX that light up the groove beautifully. A simply stunning slice of progressive grooves you simply must have.

Cedric Piret also known as CP started his career in the early 90s. He plays in the most famous Belgian clubs and becomes resident in some of them (Baramundi, Palladium, Tao After Club, Pulse Factory). 
His life is dedicated to music, next to his residencies, he works for 12 years in one of the biggest Belgian vinyl shops "Extrazone". 
In 2006, he becomes resident DJ and artistic director in a famous Belgian club, Pulse Factory, for 6 years. 
Cedric also has over 20 years of experience as a producer and DJ. He is internationally recognized and supported by John Digweed, Sasha and Hernan Cattaneo for his productions and remixes in collaboration with Pole Folder, signed on Bedrock Records, Sudbeat, Global Underground, Hope, Reworck, ... including the famous "Apollo Vibes". 
Over the years, Cedric became a respected figure on the international clubbing scene. With this solid reputation, he plays in numerous clubs, festivals and events throughout Belgium, Greece, Switzerland, England, Germany, Romania, Russia, Mexico, France.... 
He is now A&R for several records labels, including Diki Records, Diki Records Classics, Mouvement Perpetuel, Clair Obscur, Art Max, Enigma, etc…
With an unrivalled vinyl collection and a talent for producing sets in a wide range of musical genres, he is able to create a unique atmosphere that captivates his audience and takes them on a musical odyssey through time.
