Nasser Baker makes his long-awaited return with an original track, the deep and mature house single ‘Notification’ on Defected. California-born and New Jersey-raised, Nasser Baker was discovered as a young artist by influential producer Dennis Ferrer, who signed Baker to his revered Objektivity label. The move resulted in several critically acclaimed EPs, putting the New Jersey talent on the maps of house music’s finest thanks to his broad and eclectic sound, holding a maturity well beyond its years as a result of analogue techniques combined with modern house sensibilities. Ever since, Nasser Baker’s approach has steered towards quality over quantity, with his releases proving well worth the wait in the eyes of tastemakers and fans alike. After remixing ‘Whisper’ on Defected in 2021, originally released by his mentor Dennis Ferrer alongside Disciples and James Yuill, Nasser Baker returns with ‘Notification’, a dark, slow burn of a record that highlights the producer’s tech side; a lively synth bass guides the creative use of voice note-like audio, weaving a story of tension and release as Nasser’s undulating production laces the track with addictive flavour.

House Not House are back with our 13th release, and this time we’re taking you darker and deeper with The Hunter EP from Birmingham’s Antonio Noure. 

First making his name in the Midlands' bassline scene with his twisted signature sound, Noure is a prodigiously talented producer who turns everything he touches - from grime to trap and hip hop - into dark gold. With his recent house productions Noure has displayed a unique ear for the UK sound, and on on his EP with us he’s gone and stripped deep tech down to its rawest elements.

Title track ‘The Hunter’ is an evil underground anthem that’s been tearing up and freaking out the pirate radio and rave scene across the UK and Japan for the last 6 months. A reverberating synth line, wolf howls, razor sharp metallic hats and a huge pulsating bassline - the track combines its sparse elements into something otherworldly and deeply eery. Wait for the choir for maximum goosebump raising, existential-epiphany-on-the-dancefloor effect. A monster riddim guaranteed to bring out the werewolves in any crowd.

On the flip, Noure keeps it noir with the stomping ‘Tigerstyle’. With its whip-crack snares and hats, and its gritty/groovy bassline this one’s custom made for the shuffling massize. The devil’s in the details though, and its the stalactite synths, glittering rainforest percussion and chopped up, ephemeral vocal shots that give the track its evil edge and will keep late night DJs reaching for it again and again.

彼は2000年代後半で盛り上がったイギリス中部地方のベースラインシーンのトラックメーカーとして知られている。現在、トラップやハウスなど複数ジャンルで活躍できるダイナミックなアーティストとして急上昇している。

今回のEPは装飾を廃して無駄をそぎ落とした最低限の音で構成されたDeep Tech。残るのはピュアなUKサウンド。
タイトルトラックThe HunterはUKのアンダーグラウンドハウスシーンではすでにアンセム化しており、クラブやラジオで多くプレイされている。太いベースラインに金属的なハイハットや狼の遠吠えを織り交ぜ、最高にダークサイドな雰囲気を作り出す。この曲のモチーフである合唱団の声がその暗闇から響いてきて陶酔感を誘う。

Tigerstyleはシュッフラーのために作られた完全フロア向けのDeep Tech。グル―ヴィ―なベースライン、宇宙からの厳選FX、バシッと響くスネアとどこかメランコリックなメロディーからなる、5AMのクラブアンセム。
