A decaying temple in a dry, arid climate. You are inside and it is constructed of dark, dusty nooks and crannies, and soft, warm sunlight radiating through huge stained glass portraits of long-forgotten religious figures. The sunlight is a radiant blur, pulsating with the movement of clouds in the sky. This light reveals the elaborate interior decoration of the temple in sections as the day goes on.
It is a temple of metaphorical death and birth. Most memories of this temple, of those who built it, and of those who abandoned it are long forgotten, and the memories that remain are a skewed rebirth by modern imagination; imagination driving this moment in it's cycle of death and birth.

I recently composed and recorded mood music for a documentary (rock n' roll oriented action suspense) and I started this piece the day after I finished (2 days ago). I worked hard on it last night because my sleep cycle is fucked.
Listen to the passage starting at 1:45 for my attempt at counterpoint. Counterpoint has very specific rules and I'm pretty sure I didn't follow them properly. Whatever, I made it sound good.

10-18-14: Written a couple days ago and recorded within the past hour.
10-22-14: Deleted and rerecorded. Nothing new except the guitar playing is more interesting.

I named it "August" because I took the photo last August, and the night-time ambiance was recorded during a month of August.

Made this just a couple hours ago, very quickly. Only one subtractive synth. I wanted to give a title like "absolute" or "purity" but I made up "Ab Sol Peur." It sounds cool without a harsh 'T' sound in it. You can whisper it nicely.

The photo was taken in 2013. It's my favorite tree.

Ab Sol Peur

The melody you hear at 0:30 - 0:59 is one that I came up with when I was 12 upon hearing "Cloud Connected" by In Flames. 4/4 and 9/8 alternate, not bad for 12 huh? Ever since, this melody has been bouncing around in my head and occasionally in FL Studio. I've always imagined using it in a melodic metal song. For now, you can hear it in this bangin' breakbeat demo that is 90% Sytrus synths.

Recursion (demo)

Expanded version of the track I posted a week ago. This turned into a demo reel of sorts, using the melody I came up with last week as an interlude between each piece. One of these pieces dates back to Summer 2011, a couple others back to 2012, and one I've forgotten that might be more recent. I was going through nearly 300 pieces looking for melodies that fit closely to the original "Ab Sol Peur" melody to create a relatively long piece of music that one could listen to and find peace, at least for a fleeting moment.

I kept this to a single synth. Doesn't need more. The composition may be a little unorganized but, since I've been listening to this on repeat a lot in the past week, it apparently doesn't seem to bother me.

Looking for constructive, detailed critique. Sounds great through headphones in my humble opinion.

I went for lighter, lesser-invasive drums. They still drive. 
It started with the waving, flowy melody at 1:47. I had no conception of what to do with it. I transcribed it to bell synths heard at 1:24 and also at the intro in a whole-note fashion. 
I simply kept building. I keep listening while uploading, stopping to fix something, then re-uploading. It's always something.

I had a better mix of this but FL Studio (11.1) froze up when I was changing a channel's mixer track during playback. I never had this issue in 10. I got pissed and didn't want to re-do everything, but this is close enough. 
I couldn't decide on whether this should be a piano piece, organ piece, or a synth thing, so this is the "everything mix" with organ, piano, harpsichord, melodic bells, cello, string section and some pads. I'll have the solo organ mix coming right up.

Full Decadence (organ)

Written and recorded in 20 minutes flat on Sunday, couldn't upload until today because my browser is crap. It's ugly, very ugly. But I like the chords, especially the dissonant ones; they're special-sounding.

It's an absolutely rough and filthy track. Inspired by feelings of desolation and apathy that went around last week, feelings I saw in my friends and within myself, probably caused by the full moon in Cancer (if you understand astrology to some extent you would know what this means). Cancer is an emotional sign for the moon to be in, and the moon itself is a portrayal of your emotions. It squared my natal moon in Libra, squared my natal Mercury in retrograde in Aries and opposed my Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn, effectively making a grand cross. Grand crosses are fun. Not. Shit kept me up all night around the peak of the moon's illumination.

It's strange to me. My main instrument is electric bass, seconded by piano/keyboard. And I write music all the time, but the only time I ever want to show a song to people is when I know it's not my best but because it's in light of recent events, if feels right to me to show it to others. Music written in the heat of a moment is insanely pure and sober and painfully beautiful to me, no matter how rough it sounds.
