We Have the Prophetic Word (2 Peter 1:19)

recently, a physical wedding meeting i attended had saints present this hymn on stage and tears began welling up in my eyes. the inward sensation i had deep down while listening to this hymn is cosy, loving, sweet and intimate. as i recount the many years I've neglected Him, YET, His ENDLESS love found, attracted and even disarmed me. so many times, i ran away from Him, misunderstood His heart towards me, and even became closed. still, through it all - His lovingkindness and mercy prevailed. 

indeed, He has been hidden behind every scene, lovingly sweetly operating and He knows exactly what would cause me to return to to Him. it will always be a state of unrest in my soul but in my spirit i can hide in Him as my safe tower, just as i am 

i sang this hymn from the bottom of my heart and i hope it encourages you to sing to the Lord too!

Lord, You are more precious than silver;
Lord, You are more costly than gold;
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds;
And nothing I desire compares with You.

as i journey on through this Christian race, it's becoming clear to me that all else will fade, pass away, and simply cannot satisfy me from the depths of my being. man is created as a vessel to contain God. filling up this vessel up with temporal things only results in nought. it's like chasing after the wind...  i am touched by the sentiment the writer has of this hymn with the line that says - "Lord, You are more precious than silver;"

many times, my heart gets attracted and possibly distracted and occupied by the "glitter" this world brings. but at the end of it, i always find myself in a state of hunger and dissatisfaction. God has been faithful to show me that only He alone can quench the thirst i have deep within me. thankfully we don't need to arrive at the end of our lives to realise: these things can't satisfy, but we have His promise laid before and a way presented to us. the simplest way is to call: "O Lord Jesus!" 

writing this, these 2 verses surfaced in my mind:
John 4:13 - Jesus answered and said to her, Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again,

John 4:14 - But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life.

Lord, You are more precious than silver

Sometimes we go about our busy days forgetting that there’s a wonderful Person living in us. This song is a reminder that Christ is in our spirit, ready to fill us up with all His unsearchable riches!
