De Matthäus Passion geldt in Nederland als de favoriete compositie in de passietijd en is verankerd in onze cultuur. The Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands is als geen ander in staat de symboliek, emotie en troost over te brengen aan u als luisteraar. 

Johann Sebastian Bach bedacht voor zijn magnus opus een unieke opstelling: twee koren en twee orkesten. De compositie vertelt het chronologische lijdensverhaal van Christus waarbij symboliek een grote rol speelt. Bach gebruikt allerlei muzikale middelen om rijke effecten te krijgen. Hij schreef voor zowel instrumenten als solisten specifieke rollen. De verteller: de evangelist, neemt u mee door het verhaal. Hij wordt afgewisseld door het koor, enerzijds intiem en dan weer overweldigend. Iedere solist heeft een eigen emotionele dimensie zoals liefde, smart, troost, beschouwend. 

De musici van the Bach Orchestra bespelen authentieke instrumenten uit Bachs tijd en het The Bach Choir wordt geroemd om haar dynamische en expressieve klank. De (inter)nationale solisten hebben een enorme toewijding wat hoorbaar en zichtbaar zal zijn tijdens de meesterlijke aria’s. Onder leiding van dirigent Pieter Jan Leusink zijn zij als geen ander in staat de symboliek, emotie en troost over te brengen aan u als luisteraar.

Story
The Price of Truth. The Crystal Mask
In the city of Lumina, everything glittered. The facades were polished mirrors, the faces flawless, the words measured like expensive perfumes. There, truth wasn't a virtue: it was a threat.
Each citizen wore a Crystal Mask, a technology that projected the ideal version of themselves. It didn't show who you were, but who you were meant to look like. Emotions were filtered, thoughts were edited, and memories were rewritten in real time. Authenticity was considered a disease: "Naked Syndrome."
Among them lived Elaia, a restorer of ancient art. Her job was to erase cracks from sculptures, polishing paintings until they looked newborn. But in secret, Elaia collected broken fragments: cracked faces, torn canvases, forgotten truths. Her workshop was a sanctuary of imperfections.
One night, Elaia found a manuscript hidden in the frame of an antique mirror. She said:
"The truth doesn't beautify, but it liberates. Whoever speaks it, let them be willing to lose everything."
Moved by a force she didn't understand, Elaia decided to remove the Crystal Mask in the middle of Echo Square, where everyone gathered to project their most admirable selves. Her real face appeared: dark circles, scars, a gaze that didn't ask for approval.
The silence was absolute. Then, the system reacted. Elaia was marked as "Distortion." Her image was erased from the archives, her networks blocked, her name turned into noise. But something unexpected happened: a girl removed her mask. Then an old man. Then a famous singer. Echo Square was filled with real faces, tears, awkward laughter, and looks that couldn't lie.
Elaia disappeared that night. Some say she was exiled. Others, that she became a legend. On the city walls, someone painted his face with the phrase:
"The truth is hard, but it's worth more than any mask."

Some background thoughts: 

During Covid, Soundcloud had the detail of adding a "support" button which I  gladly installed (it was easy)... but over the years (and ever since)  literally NOBODY sent me anything, not even a dime.  This way I'm unfortunately unable to make a recording of the other 3 seasons (this was among my plans), furthermore I'm sometimes thinking that maybe I should take this recording down. (as of March 1, 2025)

Yeah, I know that this may give the impression (to some people) as if I'd be a "beggar", but, sorry, I just have this very bad habit of eating sometimes. And if I have to do something else, then I won't have time for Music.  It's that simple. 

Otherwise I'm really glad that so many of you like this ! Every week 4-6 people share this recording of mine, and many more people give me a "like" (without sharing).  This feels great, thank you !   

If you - on top of this - would also consider giving me (sending me) 1 dollar, I'd already be a millionaire ! :)   or even a dime, a quarter... only a tiny little amount that you feel comfortable with... the change that you would give to a homeless person on the street... then I could continue to make a living as a musician. Nothing is "too small" !!! 

Because , you know, when I must do "something else" to pay the bills (something that I do only for the money, no vocation whatsoever), then this takes away my precious (and limited) Time, and during the hours of this type of "survival work"  I obviously cannot practice, I cannot make new recordings, cannot prepare the projects in my head or on the computer, cannot fix a cable, etc.   After work I'm tired,  for even trying to sit down with my instruments... I just take a shower, eat something, sleep... and the next day it starts over.  Which is totally normal for so many of you - we both know what hard work is!  But the day consists of only 24 hours for me as well.  Then some of you may 'suggest' "okay, then don't sleep so much  ;-) " ! As if I'd be a robot.. but I'm a human being.  You know, the nature of artistic creation is such, that it needs a tranquil and well-rested mind - and the same is true, for instance, when I drive a car, or when I fly an aircraft.  If I try to live 2-3 lives at the same time, sooner or later something (or someone) would suffer... 

Anyway, I'm asking  EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU who tends to like this recording of mine, to send me at least a ridiculously small amount.  I mean, is 1 dollar too much to ask?  No worries, then please send me 50 cents !  If  1000 people would send me three or four dollars  each month, I could spend all my time with what I REALLY want to do - for instance continuing the production of this recording, the Summer, then Autumn/Fall... And I have many (MANY !) more project ideas in my head. But my beautiful instrument often just rests at home while I have to do "something else"...
