Imba’s story started when he began pouring over the many genres electronic dance music had to offer. It was here he found a home within drum & bass, having perfected his craft over the past two years and taking influence from a multitude of definitive artists, from Technimatic to Koan Sound. His diversity and creative draw comes from a vast musical knowledge, a knowledge he created whilst meticulously expanding his record collection, as well as his own back catalogue with every stellar cut he’s followed from his first release. 

Already being pedestalled by the scene’s most exciting independent imprints, Imba returns to Good Karma Music for a four-track EP that’ll highlight his impressive musicality. With his first notable output on the Perth based label, the ‘Infinite EP’ is certainly a return to form. Its complexly designed landscapes and stunning textures pull you into the deep, liquid vibes he rules supreme over. A stark testament to his ingenious production capabilities and viability as an upcoming drum & bass artist, he manages to capture the soul of more intimate productions whilst catering to the heads. 

Opening track ‘Feel You’ draws your synapsis in with pitched up synths and floating, ethereal samples. Metallic breaks add a foreboding overture to its carefully layered intro, before the track cascades into scuttling percussion and escalating tones. A fresh take on the otherwise delicate sounds of liquid, Imba demonstrates why he’s been pushed into the forefront over recent years. Title-track ‘Infinite’ follows suit, a collaboration between Leah Costello and Octo Pi. With beautifully distorted vocals drifting between the intricately manufactured mix, each pad takes you higher and higher into its moody breakdowns. Once again, it’s a play on the traditional, uplifting liquid record.

Finally, ‘Starlight’ and ‘Dynasty’ close the already stunning collection of tracks. Whilst ‘Starlight’ is an upbeat, percussive roller which features littered note arpeggios and a drivingly winding bassline, ‘Dynasty’ brings producer Tremah on board for its combination of wooden instrumentals and explosive bass. Together, they further solidify Imba’s presence within the circuit. By adding yet another two strikingly honed records which prove a timelessness in his production standard.

Terra Firma made a big splash when their first compilation release: Terra Firma Vol: 1. dropped back in May. Fast forward 8 months and it's time for round 2! With 10 artists featured, 8 of them new to the label, this sonically rich compilation is a serious statement of intent from the label. 

We get underaway with the mystical 'No Grudge', a collaboration made with passion from Dutchman Pulsate and his Flemish neighbour Nexus & Tight. This is a song for those long journeys. Terra Firma welcomes another new duo to the label in Nemy & Missing. Their deep, soulful and innovative approach to Drum & Bass is reminiscent of heavyweights Alix Perez and Spectrasoul, and track 'Did to Me' ticks all the boxes for a perfect techy roller. 

Having released on Vol. 1, Ben Downton, aka Low:r, is at it again with another major-key groove-busting anthem. Featuring Carl Petros on vocals, 'Pushing Back the Tide' is instantly uplifting with its warm piano chords. Next up, Terra Firma's very own Matt Horton debuts on the label he set up with Warren Rousseau in 2017. Along with Telomic, the tune entitled 'Ingrained' features a soft bed of engrossing melodic textures with crisp drums and a dynamic bassline on top. 

East-Midlands bass-heads Steven Mitchell & Joshua Gerry debut on the label with what can only be described as a shoe-thrower! The aggressive bassline and super-punchy drums in 'Volvere' utilise space incredibly well and satisfy our Jump-Up cravings. Finally, we have 'Soul Switch', a moody little liquid gem from up-comer Tarz. Here we have a bit of everything, from an oscillating deep bassline, to bouncy drums, and synth stabs in the higher-register. Sophisticated.

Polish producer Satl steps out of his comfort zone and explores his Dub Techno infuences on his new Lucid Dreams EP: his sophomore release on Amsterdam boutique label The North Quarter.

Consisting of six brooding, but elegant tracks, “Lucid Dreams” is the work of an artist taking creative risks in order to grow and fnd his voice. Having made the move from Rotterdam to Gdańsk at the start of the year, Satl spent his lockdown delving into his love for Techno; looking to translate it into his Drum & Bass productions - with exceptional results.

"This EP to me is an exploration of a sound that I've loved for some time, but never really felt confdent enough to attempt. A more raw, techno-inspired, but still elegant and classy form of Drum and Bass," he explains. "I always strive to push myself forward, and I feel really good about this project. It's a step outside of my comfort zone. A project that I'm really proud of."
