Since relocating out of Bristol there haven’t been so many releases from the young producer, but when there have, they always ooze quality and depth and detail - strengths that he’s developed and continues to hone to the next level. ‘To Shape The Fire’ and ‘Justice’ scream precision, laser guided weapons for the floor. But they also bring a technicality and depth that few can shoe-horn into tracks that also have enough weight to test even the biggest and best systems. Drop these ones at the dance floors peril.

When it comes to funkily uplifting drum 'n' bass, no-one does it like @souldnb

From the addition of live instruments to their deejay sets, to their twisting of the liquid funk formula across their discography, these guys have always brought something fresh and unexpected to the table. With releases on labels like Liquid V, Fokuz and now Four Corners, it's clear their combination of technical musicality and uncompromising party vibes are a winner.

And this is a particularly special release. As the EP title 'Friends' suggests, this one's all about collaborations, and Simple Souls clearly have some very talented mates to call on. 

Link and Jimmy Danger jump in for 'Blue Note Swing', where Jimmy's laid-back bars ride over a slick piano-led groove, interspersed with ice-cool instrumental solos. Then there's more jazz beauty to be found in the Kodan collab 'Wave' where horns lead the way and keys set the tone.

But there's even more to discover. Professor Funk laces 'Survivors' blending influences of hip-hop with atmospheric DnB, while 'Ride On' featuring MC Fedora takes us into full singalong anthem mode.

In short, this EP sounds like musicians of all kinds – producers, instrumentalists and vocalists – finding joy in the possibilities of DnB, and paying that forward to the listener and raver. These are feel good tunes by and for people who care about music, and that makes it an essential acquisition.

The French native represents his country in impressive fashion with his big breaks, bouncy basslines, and catchy musical elements, that create a musical listening experience that only Treex can provide.  The EP kicks off with the energetic and ethereal vibes of the title track, “Dr. Dream.”  The track rides along a filtering pad, which is backed by lush piano keys, soulful vocals, snappy drums, and a throbbing sub bassline.  Vibes!  “Far Away Place,” is up next and features a vintage-sounding soul sample, backed by a groovy bassline and shuffling drums.  “Small Town Boy,” represents a signature Treex track, loaded up with steady shuffling drums, epic musical stabs, and a bouncy bassline.  “Start All Over Again,” rounds things out in style with its lush soul samples, large pad hits, and a deep bassline that tickles the soul. Since first meeting, Brighton-based songwriter Elle Limebear and instrumentalist-producer Cephas Azariah quickly found common ground in their artistic passions, developing a friendship and going on to collaborate across various musical avenues. 

A storyteller at heart, Elle’s music combines her commanding yet ethereal vocals throughout her songs, telling tales to accompany people on their journey through life’s highs and lows, whilst inspiring them to look beyond their current challenges. With over 175 million streams and a Billboard #1, Elle’s music has taken her across the world, accompanied by Cephas Azariah as part of her touring band. Here, their joint efforts during sound-checks began to effortlessly take shape, noticing their natural synergy and curiosity to merge their distinct worlds in a creative space, their new project came to life. 

Indian-born, British composer and producer Cephas Azariah returns to Reflections after a string of highly respected singles and EPs, including an ambient rework of Cubicolor's ‘Machine Keys’, from their debut LP on sister label Anjunadeep. Having scored music for Channel 4, PUMA, Soho House and soundtracked dozens of films, Cephas only began to reveal his own compositions in late 2021, embracing the paradox between traditional classical composition and his own cultural roots, he has amassed an outstanding 10 million streams to date.

Intended to soundtrack the everyday, ordinary and mundane moments of life, the pair utilise Elle’s voice as an instrument, exploring textures, range and gentle tones. Laid over the soft foundation of Cephas’ delicate, emotive compositions of twinkling pianos, synths and soaring strings, arranged to serve as a soundtrack and invite people to slow down, to embrace the beauty in our everyday moments.
