Crazy Rich Asians has been generating huge buzz and for good reason. Not only was the story fantastic, but the little details and nuances made the experience extremely relatable for people in the AAPI community. As a Chinese American this movie embodied what could only be described as a fantasy. All my life I’ve been told by those around me that I could never make it in the music/entertainment industry because of the way I looked, but this movie disproved all of that. 

I’ve heard about so many people coming out of the theater crying and after seeing the movie I can understand why. I really didn’t expect to cry as hard as I did but I just couldn’t hold it back. The inspiration, the appreciation, the pride, it was all too strong. I hope movies like this will continue to be made; to shine a light on AAPI talent in the entertainment industry for years to come. I envision a future generation of Asian Americans who can grow up with role models that look like them. This movie is hopefully the start of something incredible and this is my tribute.
