Rick Wade is one of those electronic music producers who deserves the honorific title of "maestro." Listening to his music unlocks vibes, sensations, triggered by a deep knowledge of music that is impossible to reproduce without doing the work. The same, I think, goes for his DJ sets. 

This mix series, Sanctify, was created with a sound like Rick Wade's in mind: warm, analog-sounding deep house. "Late Night Basix" could be an alternate title. Though we started with others, Rick Wade drew the blueprint for this.

The DifferentSound Podcast #313 welcomes DJ SHUFFLEMASTER! Tatsuya Kanamori quickly became one of the few Japanese techno producers to rise to worldwide prominence within the late 90&#39;s techno scene with his productions and remixes as DJ Shufflemaster. Originally a committed member of the Tokyo-based label Subvoice, where he released several of his early EPs, Kanamori&#39;s reputation outside of Japan was greatly aided by his affiliation with European techno heavyweights such as Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Ben Sims and Carl Lekebusch. It was no surprise that Berlin-based Tresor knocked on the door and offered Kanamori the opportunity to record her first full-length album. In 2001, he appeared via Tresor, a full-length LP packed with a string of dancefloor-oriented techno productions featuring Kanamori&#39;s trademark aesthetic, making him one of the first Japanese techno producers to achieve worldwide recognition.

This is the second time I've spent my birthday weekend playing a set at Heideglühen, and I don't think I could spend the very beginning of my 30s in a better place. I'm so happy and grateful to have this amazing opportunity to play at my favourite club in the world, a club that feels like home, where I'm loved and appreciated. 

This is a re-recorded set inspired by the music I played at Heide on the 2nd of November, it’s not a recording from a club.

One more Night at Cologne's RAVE CLUB _ fall' 89 _ ... another part of Claus Bachor's lost RCC mix-tapes [  also to be found via http://samurai.fm/claus-bachor--psycho-thrill-cologne/one-more-night-at-rave-club-cologne-fall1989  ].

Cologne’s legendary RAVE CLUB [ http://www.psychothrill.de/?page=item&post=339 ] had caused quite a stir as a club institution in the Dome city during the years 1988 and 1989, not only throughout Germany, but also on an European basis – e.g. via features in FACE and I-D, as well as through its monthly schedule and its bookings [et al. Marshall Jefferson, Kym Mazelle, EPMD, Todd Terry…] together with the residents. For the first time, there now were club nights in Cologne, which were solely dedicated to House and Acid without any compromise and these also became an example in many respects for anything substantial that has been going on in Cologne’s night life ever since, be it Space Club, Elevator, Warehouse, “PSYCHO THRILL” or “Total Confusion” and which laid a foundation for all kinds of sounds that any Psycho Thrill guest has been experiencing since 1991 on a regular basis: Get right on matey – there are no rules, fear is unknown and sleep is out of question!

“This rather techy seventh prime-time part from a temporarily lost mix-tape series of myself- sorry here again for a few slight rumbles – was recorded during one of my rare solo nights without my partner Roland Casper sometime in November of 1989. It was done with a crappy RAIN mixer lacking gain control, only allowing semi-professional monitoring and I would kick any promoter’s ass for this today. The DJ booth also was exposed to some disturbances by visitors, which accounts for some of the skips during the mix. But the complete works of euphoric clubbers and the extraordinary atmosphere, which was created by the combination of a very good sound system, light and sound [two strobes, a fog machine, two flowers], made this club experience so absolutely valuable. That was the place, where we started the House and Techno “shit” first in Cologne.” [Claus Bachor about Rave Club Cologne]

This 7th part of Claus Bachor's RAVE CLUB Cologne mix series also features another special track collection of classic HOUSE music that conjures up the 4/4-class of '89, and its unpredicted blend of Deep-House/Garage, Acid, HipHouse, EBM/Industrial including early Techno and especially Detroit Techno.

This mixwork went under sound restoration by Cologne's finest CHRIS BAUMANN [ http://soundcloud.com/chris-baumann ] from some TDK tapes (that were recorded on a Yamaha tape recorder, so the quality is poor at times, but it is an authentic sound document of Cologne’s club life in the late 80s on the other hand) and got finally re-mastered there.

Disco segued to electro-funk ('85) and then Acid House ('88), which led to Techno ('92), which gradually encompassed a wide selection of CDs and some vinyl. Today little contemporary music reaches me and which, I guess, would be considered “electronic music”, I usually don’t find very exciting. As with all things, there is an abundance of similarity, and I rarely encounter anything that surprises me. The current state of affairs, whether in music or other fields, is very similar everywhere. The point in history where electronic music had no other template than one’s own imagination is certainly over. The very templates of the past have made the creation of new, unknown templates almost impossible. This is a structural issue of the genre that has transformed it into its current state. That being said, electronic music seems to have lost a lot of its sincerity. Via this account, nothing but high-quality, 'sincere' music is shared.
