Some may be unaware - but Mr Woods saved dozens of feral goats that were causing havoc around Ourimbah on the Central Coast. 

He's since given them a new lease on life - and put them to work to help reduce fire risks around the region.

🎤JOHN SINGLETON ANNOUNCED AS COAST FM’S PATRON 🎤

After more than 30 years on the Central Coast’s airwaves – community radio station COAST FM 963 Gosford has joined forces with John Singleton – with the local powerhouse being honoured as the station’s official ‘Patron’.

The not-for-profit finalising the partnership with a station tour and interview with journalist Skaie Hull.

“Coast FM is great, this place is run by 60 volunteers for next to no budget and it’s just as good as stations in Sydney - some of which I used to own and had a couple hundred people running around and engineers,” John Singleton said.

“I love the fact everyone here cares about the community and no one is doing it for the big quid, they’re all doing it because they want to make this place a little better.

“I like the news. I don't like the news on the other stations - they talk about Afghanistan all the time and Iran and Iraq and I want know if there's a dog attack at Budgewoi and what's happening at Lake Munmorah.

“I listen to Coast FM to find out what's happening in the real world up here.”

COAST'S OWN: In the next episode of "Coast's Own" - we talk to the grieving family of James Edds. 

The nine-year-old tragically died after being involved in a car crash with an alleged drink-driver  earlier this year. 

His family is now seeking "Justice for James" and has launched an e-petition calling for changes to the law for serious road crimes. 

It will need to garner 20,000 signatures state-wide for a discussion to be sparked in parliament.

COAST'S OWN: The Central Coast's Festival of Women has wrapped up with an afternoon tea at Hardys Bay Club  in support of Coast Shelter.

Matilda's Legend Julie Dolan was joined by Paralympian Rae Anderson and health professional Lara Keogh. 

Member for Gosford Liesl Tesch also shared the love of local women across the week and her transition from sport to politics. 

The afternoon was capped off with a special performance from "Tina Turner'.

COAST'S OWN: CENTRAL COAST FESTIVAL OF WOMEN

MINISTERS APPOINTED: NSW Premier Chris Minns has appointed a reduced Cabinet of 22 Ministers - including the Central Coast's David Harris and Yasmin Catley. 

It's the first time in the state's history the Ministry will be 50 per cent women (excluding the Premier) - with Member for Swansea Yasmin Catley appointed the Police and Counter-terrorism portfolio.

Member for Wyong David Harris has been made the Minister for the Central Coast - along with taking on Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty, 
Gaming and Racing, Veterans and Medical Research portfolios.

MINNS APPOINTS NSW CABINET

HISTORIC RELEASE: 100 endangered loggerhead turtles have been released at Shelly Beach at the weekend – attracting hundreds of locals to witness the historic event.  

It comes after locals discovered the nest two months ago – prompting a number of wildlife organisations to see the nest reached hatching stage.

LOGGERHEAD TURTLES RELEASED ON CENTRAL COAST

COAST'S OWN: At age 40 - Central Coast boxer Kaye Scott boxer will be forced to "retire" from the world stage. 

However the 38-year-old is out to change just that - and is fighting to see the sports' age limit increased in the form of a petition. 

Scott says she's in the best form of her life - recently returning from the Women's World Championships with a silver medal.

The Complete Boxing dynamo is now on a quest to qualify for her first Olympics next year. 

Scott has been instrumental in growing women's boxing, from the first female bout in NSW to captaining the inaugural Australian female boxing team at the 2014 Commonwealth Gamers.

WYONG FIRE: Two local community services have been left devastated after discovering a fire has gutted their buildings at Wyong. 

Emergency services were called to the The Fathers Table Incorporated's building on Monday night. 

The Central Coast charity says the building is unusable and will need to find a new premises. 

The fire also destroyed not-for-profit SparkCC site next door - who've lost thousands of dollars worth of equipment. 

Investigations are continuing however it appears to have been sparked by an electrical fault.
