I was in Birmingham International train station, boiling hot after being used to Glasgow's wet sunless summers. I filled up a waterbottle and the electronic advert next to the dispenser was emitting this electronic drone. The music you hear is taken from that 20 second recording. 

It was a boring, uncanny moment, where I was vacantly processing our worsening climate emergency and how amazing it is that things can just keep going on.  

The title comes from Judge Hehir's sentencing of the Whole Truth Five in July 2024 stating that “whether or not we are facing the end of the world is neither here nor there" and that humanity “coming to a fiery end” is irrelevant". A shocking denial of reality and punitive measure in face of very real global catastrophe. And a deeply resonant instance of society's inability to see what's coming.

Xing presents L’altro Hotel by Michele Di Stefano, nineteenth release of XONG collection - artist records. The release is on white vinyl, in a limited and numbered edition of 150 copies, including a collector's edition of 20 with a set of pseudo-exotic photo-postcards taken by the artist, with original notes and memos.

L’altro Hotel by Michele Di Stefano brings together, in a lucid and amusing way, fragments of a vast collection of voice memos collected by him from around the world as a catalogue of localized sounds, precise moments of personal experience. The processing of the album consisted in converting these diaristic recordings into pieces of 'placed music’, inspired by phantom theories on non-selective listening (a form of 'nearby music') and presented as a radio program now in its fiftieth episode. Michele Di Stefano, the radio host, contextualizes them according to the canons of music journalism: title, band or artist, anecdotes relating to the creation of the song, recording techniques, ethnomusicological fantasies and other scattered news. The result is an escape from field recording and travel literature, arriving at a more complex territory, where fiction and reality conspire to immerse the restlessness of travel in a haze condensed by the imaginative power of sound. The author exposes, through these very credible fake news, a 360-degree vision of making art. The hits of unlikely artists such as Marina Lee Orghad or Jonathan Evelos are intertwined with a mix of atmospheres, landscapes, perspectives that connect Tunis to the Parisian Marais, the Reserva Nacional Tambopata in Peru to the trams of Rome and the rivers of Botswana...

Michele Di Stefano is a choreographer, performer and founder of mk, a group active in the international scene since 2000 with a vast corpus of shows, choreographic environments and evolutionary systems based on dynamic research, travel literature, sound and meteorology. Central figure of Italian dance, he is considered an explorer that constantly redefines the relationship between individual projects and the general horizon of movements. Besides live performances, he has an intense activity of lecturing, workshops and experimental proposals.
He was associated artist at the Teatro di Roma (2020-21) and at Milan Triennale (2022-24). He has received numerous awards and choreographic commissions for his activity (Silver Lion for innovation in dance at the Venice Biennale 2014, Ubu Award 2019, Danza&Danza Award 2018 and 2020, Ubu Special Award 2021). Since 2025 he is part of the curatorial team of Short Theatre Festival in Rome. Di Stefano also published the book Autonomous agents and multi-agent systems (Quodlibet 2012) together with Margherita Morgantin, a text of choreographic instructions and climate reports. www.mkonline.it

Stefan Fraunberger's Quellgeister#3 Bussd is Recorded entirely on an abandoned church's organ in the village of Bussd, Romania, the album is the third installment of the series by Austrian artist and composer Stefan Fraunberger. His research on the influence of nature on culture touches on time, periphery, memory, and transience as evidenced in his Quellgeister research. The album is an archeological sonic research on the deteriorating Organ discovered in the saxon church in Transylvania.

Inspired by open spaces (and the objects that interrupt them), META DOOR L is the latest auditory excursion from Perila. Expansive in scope, it extracts beauty from the organic and inorganic alike, tapping into the wonder of the outdoors as it revels in the unique properties of metal—both as a material and a sound source. Building on her work for labels like Sferic, Motion Ward, and Boomkat Editions, META DOOR L is rooted in field recordings extracted from the wilderness outside Tbilisi, where a series of hiking expeditions led Perila to chance encounters with metal tubes, large rocks and the ruins of an old house. In the months that followed, these recordings were patiently processed, degraded and transformed, their misshapen remains welded together by hazy ambient atmospheres and textured soundscapes. From there, the St. Petersburg-raised, Berlin-based artist pushed herself into new creative territory, searching for the innate (and decidedly non-linear) rhythms lurking within her dense sonic stratigraphy. META DOOR L is the hypnotic end result, an immersive listen whose lush tones and guttural rumbles coalesce into something utterly transportive.
