Quenum is an extraordinary individual. A professional breakdancer that was raised in Africa, he found love in London in the 80s through mastering the art of DJing to early electronic music and broke into the spotlight as Acess58 in the 90s before forming the Cadenza label with Luciano in 2003.

His debut album ‘Face To Face’ is deliriously deep and melancholic, rhythmically complex and gives a fragile new voice to techno. Across the eleven original tracks, Phillippe Quenum exudes a graceful temperance creating tracks that flutter and take flight (indulge in the soothing hi­hats of ‘Escales’ and synth voices of ‘Children Of The Sun’) as well as rattle the bass bins (sample the raw energy of ‘Basic Solution’ and delicate power of ‘Ritual’). Both sparse and insightful (‘My People’) as well as intricate and anthemic (Never Loose My Soul’) Quenum’s delivery is always quirky and slightly surprising and ‘Face To Face’ is a curious analysis into this honest musical soul.

Together with Luciano, Quenum founded the uber­successful label Cadenza, finding a home for their first collaboration “Orange Mistake” ­ one of the most played tracks of the last ten years in the techno circuit. More recently, Quenum partnered with Swiss producer Dachschund to found the Clapper imprint.

o+ Philippe Quenum is a key figure within the techno scene, garnering a considerable stream of releases on labels including Contexterrior, Crosstown Rebels, Orac, Trapez, Serialism and Toys for Boys, with tracks appearing on close to 20 compilations on labels such as Fabric (Carl Craig) and Cocoon.

o+o Crediting his childhood in Africa and his family background for his musical taste, Quenum has worked on music for documentaries and had a career as a break­dancer. A keen experimenter, his productions are known for their simplicity yet richness in detail. His flawless mixing technique and live sets are constantly redefining and upgrading abstract electronic dance music.

 For  the  25th  release  Serialism  welcomes  Loic  Castagnet,  aka  Loquace,  to  the  slow-­‐growing  family.   Despite  being  a  relatively  new  name  in  the  Techno  and  House  circuit,  Loquace  has  already  stood   out  since  a  few  years  with  his  hypnotic  groove  and  sensual  vibe.   The  young  and  super  talented  born  parisian  has  built  up  his  name  with  releases  on  Upon  You,   Little  Helpers,  Baile  Musik  and  Kina.  His  productions  are  some  of  Cesare's  (vs  Disorder)  strongest   dance-­‐floor  weapons  since  a  while  and  he's  already  supported  by  big  names  such  as  tINi,     Locodice,  Magda,  Claude  Von  Stroke,  Robert  Dietz  and  many  more.

After Quenum's debut album, the richly textured and atmospheric masterpiece 'Face To Face', Serialism prepares to release a striking remix package featuring three distinct voices in electronic
music. 'Basic Solution''s raw fluid energy is encased in a pulsing, staccato framework by Cesare Vs Disorder as the meandering bassline emerges and gives way to the original distorting synth line.
5AM is first given a more pumping dancefloor sheen by Tiefschwarz and next a typically epic and mindbending journey from Mathew Jonson. Lastly Frank Haag delivers a spooky rework of 'Ritual' that tightens the groove into a rolling hypnotic head trip that will also move the floor.

DJing since the early 80s and living in London throughout the 90s, Quenum first made an impact as part of Access 58, founded in 1996 (with Paulo Nascimento) before moving to Geneva and setting up Num records in 2005, then the pioneering Cadenza with Luciano. A considerable stream of standout releases as Quenum have followed on Cadenza and other labels including Contexterrior, Crosstown Rebels, Orac, Trapez and of course Serialism.
o+o In addition to the demanding job of running labels Mean and Serialism together with a Berlin based team, Cesare Vs Disorder also gets his own goods out on internationally recognised labels such as
BPitch Control, Get Physical, Vakant, Souvenir and Stock5 to name a few.
o+o+ Veteran german duo Tiefschwarz (Ali and Basti Schwarz) have been electronic leaders of for
well over a decade, running the consistently fresh Souvenir imprint as well as releasing an array of trailblazing records and contributing to esteemed mix series such as Renaissance, Watergate and fabric.
o+o+o Mathew Jonson is one of the most respected names in the game with past releases on M_NUS, Perlon, Crosstown Rebels and his own Wagon Repair label. Along with his Cobblestone Jazz outfit

Jelly Shot & Egopool holten sich mit Maenstrom einen Labelkollegen ins Boot und zaubern einen düsteren und kraftvoll treibenden Track hervor, der mit knarzenden Synthy-Lines und dezent gesetzten Vocals in die Peaktime schleudert. Ein unbezwingbarer Groove und der stetige Aufbau des Tracks lassen ‚At Nait‘ zu einem Soundtrack der Clubnächte avancieren, ohne auf Understatement zu verzichten.

Kein Geringerer als Techno-Urgestein Thomas Schumacher liefert einen massiven Remix, der den Spirit des Originals in seine Bestandteile zerlegt und an richtiger Stelle neu zusammensetzt. Nhar kicks starts 2015 with a follow up to his critically acclaimed 'Life's Ether' EP, released early this year on My Favorite Robot Records French DJ and producer Nhar has been a stalwart of the underground House and Techno scenes for the last decade, releasing music with respected imprints such as Mobilee, Correspondent and Boxer. The opening months of 2014 saw him team up for the first time with the ever excellent Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records for the superb 'Life's Ether', a record that garnered support from the likes of Steve Bug, Danny Howells, Estroe and Justin Robertson to names but a few. Now the highly respected producer is back with a standout follow up entitled 'In Spaces Between' based around 3 interconnected compositions. The package opens with 'Part 1' , a warm and hypnotic slice of electronic music that draws on warbling pads, haunting spoken word vocal and bubbling acid undertones, all underpinned with a perfect rhythm track. "Part 1' gives ways to 'Part 2', which sees a shift into Chicago inspired territory with it's old school stabs and taut drums. Spoken word vocals once again set the atmospheric scene before the bassline picks up a blissful melodic pattern and drives the track forward into spine tingling territory with it's ethereal pads and subtle acidic squelch, quality stuff. Finally we have 'Part 3': the tempo drops, the acid breaks free and the listener is taken on a journey down the rabbit hole with this delightful mid tempo and musical workout. This is another impressive release from Nhar and another fine addition to the ever expanding and critically acclaimed MFRR catalogue.

We've got the first play of A-side 'Elysium' by Mind Against & Locked Groove and this is some gold standard techno. It throbs menacingly throughout and features more layers than you can even pin-point. This is good.

New Order - Restless (Agoria Remix)

Tackling the highlights of Nick Höppner's recent full-length Folk is rock solid BR fav, The Black Madonna, who has (surprise, surprise!) turned it into a stormer. Accompanied, as usual, by an eminently "Relate"-able message of humble gratitude, the real calling cards here are the rising, rousing synths that wouldn't sound out of place on a vintage Severed Heads 12". We're informed that it's a Panorama Bar melter, which makes sense: what begins an inviting outstretched palm winds up a slamming clenched fist.

The Folk remix 12" is out very soon, via Ostgut Ton. Keep eyes peeled.

Brassica returns with a brand new 12” single for Civil Music that includes new track "Get Down" and a remix of "Tears I Can Afford" from Belfast duo Bicep. 
‘"Get Down" arrives simultaneously with ‘Nature Isn’t Mute’; a deluxe extended edition of "Man Is Deaf", the producers debut album praised by Dazed & Confused and De:Bug and nominated for Album of the Year at the DJ Mag awards. "Nature Isn’t Mute" completes the Terence McKenna quote the album was named after and contains seven additional tracks.
On "Get Down" Michael Wright shows he hasn’t lost any of that Brassica magic with a heady 6 minute workout. As the track sprawls and unfurls, various elements come in and out of play, hinting at the foundations of the Brassica sound, with Wright guiding the listener along for a joyous ride. The single is backed by a remix of album track "Tears I Can Afford" courtesy of Belfast duo Bicep who embrace the occasion fully by extending the original to 8 minutes and playing with its acid elements in fine fashion.

Baba Stiltz – Keep It Lit

Neither icy cold or even related, Nathan & Timothy Eskimo have been producing and remixing since 2009 across labels including Clouded Vision, Days Of Being Wild and Throne Of Blood. Next up is their debut appearance on Beachcoma (the label owned by Fairmont, Metope and Sid Le Rock). This disco-infused cut is fully of sprightly hi-toms, scintillating hats and claps, with a pitched down titular vox sample. Then the breakdown gets it's wonk on and well, breaks down actually. Lovely messy chrimbo party starter, with something naughty thrown in the punch.

Huxley welcomes UK duo Bodhi on board at his budding No Idea’s Original imprint this December. Following in the footsteps of artists like Pierre Codarin, Jordan, Kalyde and Boxia, Bodhi supply an onslaught of dance-floor weapons for the label, providing a heavy hitting four tracker. The record is led by ‘Outlook’, a track you can hear in full only on When We Dip today. The title cut is a groovy four-to-the-floor tech delight. Press play :)
