Tonight's DJ session hosts the versatile Dutch artist Matthijs van der Geest, for whom entry points into the world of music were genres such as funk, punk and death metal. Under the alias Whrikk, he first appeared live on the electronic scene as a producer and DJ of dark psy trance around 2008. In recent years, the WHRK project has been leaning towards techno, IDM, acid and more modern braindance and breakbeat. marked by characteristic syncopated rhythms.

Matthijs's expressive style is also fueled by the comic book world of bizarre creatures and science fiction, which has been an indispensable source of inspiration for his musical and visual artistic opus since childhood. Nevertheless, it is impossible to fully define it, as it confronts us with the unexpected with every creation. Let us also emphasize that the majority of his music is created with modular and analog synthesizers, which for the musician actually represent a kind of living entity with which he explores the saturated sound universe in a playful way with various possibilities.

In short, his music embodies light and darkness, is obscure, sensitive and above all - playful. It's time to listen to the exclusive set he prepared for Radio Student.

The 41st episode will be a special journey for all Chill Channel psychonauts. Before blast off on Thursday afternoon, I have to interpret the message of the marvellous captain DJ PERRAGGIO! His words reveal a world that is particularly dear to me, which has appeared here and there before, but has not been given a full chapter until now: Cosmic italo as such may be a non-existent sub-genre, but there's a whole universe of italo-flavoured cosmic disco, and this is a short trip into that world. Also, the tracks here are produced/remixed almost exclusively by Italians to fully justify the italo tag, and present a time capsule from the era before indie dance. The journey starts at the deeper end of contemporary Italian elettronica cosmica, makes a detour for the far-out galaxy of Baldelli, then soars through the softer edges of arpeggio-driven nu-space-disco to finally land at a tranquil corner of current italo-house. Buon viaggio!

I got to play a daytime set at a lovely intimate gathering called Cosmic Waves, hosted by Frequency Surfers on a wild beach in Bulgaria. This was my attempt to migrate from a lovely morning ambient set by Jill Sans @bianca-sima and raise the energy levels into the next set by @glov13 while contending with some serious winds. Tracks were chosen on the fly, there's a mistake or two in there, but I hope you enjoy it!

Ceteract is the solo psy project of a guy in Cluj. He's been playing parties for a few years, gathering tunes for both night and day. He thinks they sound nice but you come and be the judge. Recently involved in organizing a couple of events with his friends, he can occasionally be found in the wild scouting for new party spots on his mountain bike or just looking at stuff. Elsewise he spends time twiddling guitars in various groups of various lifespans.
