Class-A's relentless work ethic as an MC has led to collaborations with a virtual all-star cast of Australian producers. Over 3 albums - and a mixtape - she's worked alongside M-phazes (Obese Records, Pharoahe Monche), Aoi (Wax Museum), BVA (Mnemonic Ascent) and Urban Monk aka Dyl Thomas (Polo Club). 2010's "Me, Me, Me & Him: The Secret Life of a Receptionist," led to a feature spot on Triple J Unearthed, radio play all over the country, and spawned a massive Australian tour alongside The Tongue and Spit Syndicate. Drum Media called the album "immersive, endearing and great fun." It's these traits that make Class- A's lyrics adaptable enough to be as suited to M-phazes traditional rap bangers, as they are to Urban Monks' future-fried space funk.

She's shared the stage with the likes of Dilated Peoples, Jean Grae, Talib Kweli, Lord Finesse, Rakaa, Ras G, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and J-Live, as well as national stalwarts The Hilltop Hoods, Urthboy, Mantra & Ozi Batla.

Her latest project 'The Baroness' is a collaboration with Melbourne beatmaker Aoi. Their self-titled release was dropped in January 2012 on an unsuspecting public, instantly becoming feature album on Triple J's Hiphop show. 

The Baroness reflects a different side of Class-A. Her flow maintains the character that so many found endearing on earlier releases, but there's a new attitude here, revealing a more calculated, colder edge. It really is like, as Aoi says "by night, Class A is an Eastern European, dark haired evil double agent for Cobra. With glasses." Not to mention that matching this vocal presence with Aoi's easy neck snapping drums, obscure samples and crusty vinyl loops, is a stroke of genius on a super-villainous level.

Raani Shah is a Sydney based Soul/RnB singer-songwriter who, inspired by classic performers like Prince, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder and production artists such as J Dilla and Kevin Parker, re-imagines classic soul music through the prism of hip-hop and electronica.

Sydney-born, Melbourne based producer ISHU has been creating a buzz around the nation with his blend of organic and synthetic instrumentation, combined with deep, heavy hip hop and electronic beats and basslines. With his 3rd solo release ready to drop, ISHU’s stepping his game up a few notches with the remarkable production within the new LP “Hand Made”.

A solid foundation has already been built off the back of his 2010 release “A World in Progress”, which was born from his travels through Europe and Asia. Collecting samples and field recordings along the way; ISHU found inspiration in every country he visited, immersing himself in local culture and sketching beats in bunkbeds all over the world. ISHU enlisted the talents of some of Australia’s finest vocalists for the album, including Mantra, Hau (Koolism), Lotek (UK), Class-A, Elf Tranzporter, Dyl Thomas (Polo Club), Pataphysics and more. “A World in Progress” showcases ISHU’s distinct sound of culture-mashing boom-bap and downtempo soundscapes, with hints of influences like Hermitude, Madlib, Bonobo and Embee (Looptroop). 

2011 proved to be a busy year; bringing in the year on the Dub Shack stage at Peat’s Ridge Festival, and multiple headline shows around Australia and NZ promoting the album, and also supporting Urthboy, Sietta, Thundamentals, Electric Wire Hustle, Ladi6, Oh No, Rainman and more. ISHU also toured nationally supporting Joelistics for his “Voyager” tour which later led to a remix on Joelistics “The Shining” EP through Elefant Traks. As a side project, ISHU also released a collaborative single with Class A titled “Never” (which also features as an instrumental/remix on “Free The Beats Vol.8”), and a B side remix of one of Class A’s tracks from her successful debut. ISHU also teamed up with hip hop outfit MoneyKat to release their self titled debut album receiving national airplay along with a string of dates in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide, and also a track included on the Obesecity2 compilation on Obese Records.

And here we are, 2012… The new ISHU album titled “Hand Made” is full of bounce; from cutting edge hip hop bangers, to downtempo electronic soul grooves. Featuring artists Mighty Joe (MoneyKat, USA), Mantra (Obese Records), Jeswon (Thundamentals, Obese Records), One Sixth (Pang Productions, Obese Records), Candice Monique (Illusive Entertainment) and Omar Musa (MoneyKat). The contemporary hip hop production ranges from chopped sample based melodies to synth infused rhythms, drawing the listener in to an epic soundscape from start to finish.

The first single “Way to Go ft. Mighty Joe” is due for digital release Friday 19th October, 2012 through Gaga. The off-kilter hip hop beat paired with Mighty Joe’s tight flow creates a driving force. ISHU also lends his singing capabilities to the chorus, asking a question which has echoed for eons through the minds of inquisitive individuals.
