Movement 2 of a trio written around the time of a painful romantic experience that fell apart rather bitterly in Fall 2024.

Movement 2 was written after things (painfully) fell apart, and captures the sort of dour mood I was in at the time, feeling like I'd lost a potentially great love and a friendship.

Lost Heart

They know exactly what I need to hear,
Hold nothing back, Nothing to fear,

I, with myself, am face to face.

The quiet gathers early in the day,
A drifting light that will not stay.
The rooms grow larger and my footsteps fade,
Holding every memory time has made.
I move through shadows, still and slow.
