With the one physical release to her name, Nina Trifft isn't an instantly recognisable name, however the cassette and online mixes the Golden Pudel affiliate has released have earned her some worthy attention. Nina is a Hamburg local and one of the many cogs in the tight-knit community keeping the city's Golden Pudel club ticking. Her own night took up residence there for more than four years, and artists to play included the likes of DJ Richard, Shapednoise and Mix Mup to Broken 20's TVO, Samuel Kerridge, and more. Alongside Helena Hauff, Brian Not Brian and Thought Broadcast, Nina also contributed a release to Blackest Ever Black's cassette sub-label Krokodilo Tapes by delivering Kiran Sande's offshoot No Observable Effect Concentration in 2014, a mixtape colourfully described as "soundgirl punishments... Equal parts cyberpunk body-horror and real-deal harbour city sorrow."

Online you'll find her mixes over at Berceuse Heroique and Berlin Community Radio, among others, however her musical pursuits don't stop there. With Tobias Duffner, the pair set up their own V I S label earlier in the year by debuting local Hamburg entity SPR which had Juno Plus editor Tony Poland likening the music on EP1 to "Shackleton in a particularly bad mood." With Nina's gigging schedule taking off, she's found herself playing in and around Berlin, to Norbergfestival up in Sweden and Krakow's Unsound next month, and following a chance encounter at this year's Fusion Festival we were able to net a vodka-whiskey-fuelled mix from her, shaded not too differently from the sound bombs she delivered Krokodilo Tapes. The Ambient Zone is a beautiful journey into ambient and electronica inspired by universal themes of calmness, purity, relaxation and enrichment where Weightless is coupled with some exclusive first releases and other blissfully ambient tracks from Just Music artists and alumni.

Created instinctively and intuitively by Marconi Union, Weightless has been claimed to have therapeutic properties in the way the track almost appears to have a heartbeat running through it which slows down very gently throughout the piece, encouraging a deep sense of relaxation in the body, It's use of specific rhythms, beep bass tones, frequencies and intervals induce an almost trance like state in the listener.

Marconi Union - Weightless

Trying to replicate Vangelis' Memories Of Green from the Blade Runner soundtrack.

Vangelis composed (improvised?) Memories Of Green in 1980 for his album See You Later, but it's not as famous as the Blade Runner soundtrack in which the track was included too.

The instrument is a Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Bösendorfer piano with a flanger effect, some synthesizers controlled with an expression pedal, and a generous amount of reverb.

An excerpt from a session recorded during our A.I.R. in Krems (A) in October 2011.
It is the genesis of a new collaboration between  Dhrupad singer Amelia Cuni and myself on Pan-Ney , in which Indian Ragas and Just Intonation pitches find a common ground.
We are also using delays and moving sinetone drones to support the tunings. This is  Part 1 of a work-in-progress , including sections with other invented instruments.The duration the whole composition still in the air.
