CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

NEW HEDONISM: The local scene is way too "bright" as it is everywhere else, I guess. I used to party in raves and clubs; now I'm looking for a limited quantity of people parties where there are only a few lights and no fame. On the other side, there are absolutely great parties on the German side of Switzerland, and I think we need to learn about the theme here in Geneva. I want to contribute (on my own and with DERESTRICT) to develop this dark, illegal, and sweaty vibe here.

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

NEW HEDONISM: No need to mention anything except it's raw, aggressive and melancholic.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

NEW HEDONISM: People can clearly notice the path I have taken for almost two years now. I love it fast, Industrial & reaaaally energic. A lot of inspiration from the Eastern European scene.

HALKA is the founder of the podcast series and brand, SOUTHCORE. SOUTHCORE is a brand curated in South Africa that focuses on creativity and steps away from the normativity of electronic music that we are used to. It is the movement to introduce something new to the south’s core. He has previously featured on the society the dream killer podcast, explicit noise podcast, and and DESTRUCTIVE SESSIONS. HALKA, originated in South Africa and currently resides in London, started out in the deep and minimal sounds of electronic music. After a while of experimentation, he found his taste in music building up to the faster sounds. The sounds that strip the norms of electronic music and society as a whole into the pure rawness that they exist as. he is no stranger to the industrial scene and is eager to make it more than it is and what it deserves in his home town, South Africa. HALKA encourages us to release and roam as we are. One. Together we make a change. So let’s go.
