With a career spanning 15 years, Jamie Stevens is a name aligned with the production of quality dance floor music.

As one of the founding members of renowned band Infusion, he has tasted success both locally and around the Globe. But now, as the page turns, a new chapter begins in the career of Jamie Stevens. For the very first time he is proud to present his first ever solo EP; The Fate of the Modern Architect.

The Fate of the Modern Architect EP targets a broad spectrum of textures as its foundation and awakens the beast from a production standpoint, displaying just how diverse a solo artist Jamie Stevens can be.

The feature track, Stubborn Seasons, administers a main room anthem, drawing up Jamie’s past experience and new age polish, neatly presented in one tightly mastered piece. A perfect way to announce your arrival or leave the floor buzzing with its epic horn edits, rhodes chords and kick that hits hard bearing an uplifting intensity to move your soul.

To add further excitement to the release, the remix of Stubborn Seasons has been crafted by none other than techno juggernaut Egbert. In the way only Egbert can, he sets the scene early with his trademark pumping but melodic techno that renders any crowd helpless to its force.

100 Counterfeit Hearts changes tones with a super original tech house landmark that lays a crunchy percussive groove, peculiar bass line and authentic flute lines courtesy of one of Australia’s most talented musicians Jaja (Jay Petch).

Returning the favour from Chameleon 001 is a remix by Steve Ward. Ward totally flips the vibe from its original groove to an all-out big-room techno monster. Choosing to maintain the percussive elements of the original, he builds the track to an epic breakdown, sampling the main flute line and manipulating it into a clever synth pattern.

To close out the EP, Fate of the Modern Architect shows how just versatile a musician Jamie Stevens really is. His intricate attention to detail is cast in a different way with its haunting melodic layers and glitchy percussion. The result is a superbly crafted, emotionally filled track that concludes a fully rounded release.

A Moment Of Stillness In Flight
I close my eyes and ponder this journey, my path as I so often do. My legs continue on, moving to carry the load without question or complaint. I have walked for miles, for days, weeks and years, never wavering from the chance to find my way. I am searching, for something, though not yet revealed, the voices whisper, constantly from the crevasses of my mind. I continue on, dirt mounting through my bare toes, once sheltered by shoes that covered now callused skin. A cloud forms, dust that hovers and protects me like a blanket as I travel along my way. My eyes remain closed but I know it is there, my cloud of dust, shielding me from all that which I do not wish to see anymore. My path is forward I say aloud, alone, with belief that it is the only way I can be. I let go and my instincts clear, noise calming before me like a storm, and I can hear them speak to the very earth around me. My body raises, in my mind, images appearing in my mind so vivid and beautiful, dust clouds turned white, that I can’t control the tears quivering at the corners of my eyes. I feel helpless, but found, in this moment where everything is free and as it is supposed to be. Waves of energy flow through me, over and over and amongst it I find presence of mind to open dampened eyes only to see those images not at all changed from those within my mind. I am surprised, floating there in the sky, my moment of stillness in flight, my moment to finally realise that only in this moment am I truly free.

Echoes from a Hidden Silence
It creeps. A darkness that moves through the hallways of my mind. It glides like smoke, silent across a wooden floor. Thick like tar, it laps at my toes, engulfs my feet, curling up and around my legs. I can feel its weight, heavy as it moves, slow as my body disappears.
It floods my mind, extinguishing the last glimmering light of my imagination. My muse. She was so safe and free but now I am horrified as she is choked by the hand of the shadow.
As darkness falls, my light is gone.
I squeeze my eyes shut tight and grit my teeth. I rally. I will not let her go. She is somewhere here, my muse, in the arms of the darkness as he escapes through the cavernous maze of my mind. I feel frozen, suspended in it's web and scream as I force one foot to the ground. I wrench the other forward and soon I can hear my hurried steps across the hollowed floor.
With every stride I feel stronger as flashes of light appear in my mind. She is here, I know, as the bursts of light reveal a long hall. My heart races. I move faster, passing doorways to rooms I have never seen before. They confuse me, each one calling me back to the dark but I drive forward on the kinetic force of my will.
I enter a large room and stop all of a sudden as shadows and forms move before me.
Eerie in their dance. They are illuminated by flares of light from behind them. Is it her? My heart shudders and I move carefully around the faceless shadows. I move until I reach something blocking my way at my knees. A platform. I step up to find myself at the centre of the large room. The shadows continue to move, form like a never ending swell up and down. I see her glide in and out. My light. It is her, amongst the darkness. I feel tears well in the corners of my eyes. As the crowd moves to my light, the energy I feel is incredible. A feeling so vulnerable and lost and yet somehow I feel so free. I feel like I am home.
For it is in this space I find my peace. Amongst the faceless crowd. The movement and sway as it rises. The place that calls to me. Whispers from the shadows, weaving in and out as bodies move. As she moves. Amongst the chaos, I find my peace, I find her voice, my voice, through echoes from a hidden silence.

A paradox, standing at a crossroad of a mirrored path, the same, both forward and behind. And as a single star graces the halcyon sky at dusk, a travelling stranger greets you hello. Though new this friend may seem, you search your memory for the previous exchange of your last goodbye. Like souls intertwined, aged long before this present life, you smile in the simple comfort of their presence. And as you bid farewell, goodbye old friend, you ponder the thought of an inherent history that lives deep within, beyond where your present mind will take you, to the very foundation of your soul. For the past is the backbone of all things created and even though we naturally stray in the rigor of evolution, we are connected by the building blocks of that which will always remain. So for those who are lucky to be bestowed by that which came before, fear not when the path forward may be lost, the answers you need lie deep within along the footprints to a forgotten world.

SQL - My Muse in a Void of Insanity

I traverse the caverns of my vast subterranean mind. I am searching. Looking for clues to the latest puzzle that toys with my brain. Although I have been here many times before, each time I have left I am no more accustomed to the code of this paradox than that of when I came. The options before me seem new but if I do recognize a path and decide to take it I am only led back to the very beginning of the complex maze.

I take my chances on a way, alone. I walk with shadows that swirl around me, strange shapes that appear on the walls to test my nerves. I hear whispers in the darkness that play to mock me, taunting me to turn away. I find a way to put them out of my mind but they once again return wearing cloaks of a familiar voices, trying to trick me into calling off my search.
I stop to take a deep breathe and remind myself that this is my world, my path. They are merely impostors, as their heckles fade in and out of the wind. I walk through the tunnels for hours, days, with no form of respite. I feel no further forward than I am back and a solemn mist blankets the flame of my zealous heart. The darkness begins to wear on me and I search the deepest trails of my resolve to find a light that may guide me along my way.

I chance upon a passage with a faint glow at its end and like the kind hand of a stranger to a lonely man, my spirits are ignited. As I move closer, the deterring voices, those that are always there, get louder, coming at me like a stampede from all directions. This time I am less affected by the disheartening words as the gentle light flickers in the distance. Slowly the noise disperses and I hear a sweet melody behind those, now muffled, voices of doubt.

I reach the end of the path, the shining light is warm on my face. At the end of the tunnel is a doorway and I am standing at the threshold of a whole new world. I smile and gaze fondly at the promise of this new inspiration. I have not set foot in this realm yet but somehow, strangely, I feel like I am home. For I have walked many miles and fought off those swindlers of doubt. 
I accept this as simply the process, in finding a muse in my void of insanity.
