Brighton four-piece Let The Machines Do The Work have been making some serious waves since their recent inception. Already talked about as the freshest electronic collective since Rudimental topped the charts, LTMDTW are ready to release ‘Let Me Be The One’ on 30th September via Champion. 

‘Let Me Be The One’ is a hurtling locomotive of a track, complete with a soul-flavoured conductor; all 6ft 8” of him. Screw-face basslines aside, vocalist Louis Howard Jones ensures ‘Let Me Be The One’ is sat in a league of it’s own with a distinctive honey-coated voice that ties LTMDTW’s sound together and wraps it with punchy, analogue-fuelled character. By taking a live approach to making music, LTMDTW clash analogue and digital equipment with elements of house, techno, soul and disco to craft that elusive human edge often lacking in modern dance music. Influenced by everyone from Kraftwerk to Maurice Fulton via Loefah and Boddika, LTMDTW, compromised of founding members Al Cowan and Jimmy Day plus Alex Over and the aforementioned giant Louis, are ready to let the music do the talking. And with tracks as strong as this, there’s no stopping them.

Next up in our Anniversary Remixes series, Mark Knight and Funkagenda’s anthemic ‘Man With The Red Face’ is reinterpreted by award-winning Dutch producer Hardwell, tech house talent and Toolroom regular Rene Amesz and longstanding house master ATFC.

A monumental track in the history of Toolroom Records, Mark Knight and Funkagenda’s cover of Laurent Garnier’s ‘Man With The Red Face’ cemented the label’s position in the dance music scene, winning Best Ibiza Track 2008 at Pacha’s Ibiza DJ Awards and Beatport’s Best Tech House Track of 2008.

Now our Anniversary Remixes package sees the track reinterpreted in three striking ways.
First up, Hardwell supplies a big room, high energy remix crafted to fill the largest and loudest festival arenas, heavily supported by Radio 1 in Ibiza this is set to soar to the top.
Next, Rene Amesz takes his trademark techy style to the track, incorporating crisp, percussive rhythms resulting in a whole new tech workout for the clubs.
Finally, ATFC takes the track to another level, crafting the aptly named ‘When The Lights Go Up’ remix, resulting in a laidback adaptation that that pulls at the heartstrings for the perfect finale tune.

Proving to be an enduring favourite for any Toolroom fan, ‘Man With The Red Face’ is now updated with three diverse remixes, ready for the next ten years of Toolroom Records.

Family Man (Flight Facilities Edit)

In 1985 Champion hired its first employee, an 18 year old named Paul Oakenfold who had been working as messenger boy in New York. Champion Records aimed at releasing underground club tunes, Hip Hop, Rare Grooves, Jazz & Soul tracks as well as uplifting House tunes on 12” vinyl originally found and licensed from the USA. Tunes like Spank ‘Oh Baby’, Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince ‘Girls Ain’t Nothin’ But Trouble’, Salt ‘N Pepa ‘Push it’ & Rene & Angela ‘Secret Rendezvous’.

As musical taste evolved Champion aligned itself with the early house and garage movement. It produced iconic tracks including Raze’s ‘Break 4 Love’, Robin S ‘Show Me Love’, Sandy B ‘Make The World Go Round’, Kristine W ‘Feel What You Want’ & Sybil ‘Don’t Make me Over’. These then turned into some of the most famous & credible artists in the world along with DJ’s like Todd Terry, Kerri Chandler, Junior Vasquez and Stonebridge.
