Into The Light

The first of its kind, Chando Acoustic, is a collection of piano songs written by Chando with added drums, standup double bass and violin. While this EP, like most Chando records, is still primarily driven by the keys, this is a unique set of tunes has much different feel to them. They're super raw and only include the instruments you hear and nothing else. No extra post processing or crazy effects, just real, live performances by the talented musicians featured on this album. This record, a collection of truly unique tunes, is a step in another direction as it's definitely #NotElectronicMusic and was super fun to bring to life with the help of my extremely talented friends.

Healing Together is a mix that was made for all of us dealing with a loss in our lives. What The Funk

This set was recorded live on stage in Denver Colorado at Lost Lake on 11/20/2021, where I opened for my good friend's band Tula.  This set starts off with some vibey, instrumental hip hop grooves and then finds it's way into dancy house beats, before toping it off with an epic bassy closer.  I've also sprinkled in some live keys on top, mostly just improving live, but also playing along to some of these tune's melodies as well.

Live at Lost Lake

This set originally aired on Bluetech's weekly Holotropic Happy Hour live stream on 06/08/2022, and features a collection of blissful, uplifting tracks. If I was ever invited to play a sunrise set at a festival, this would most certainly be the vibe that would be brought to the table for such an occasion. These tunes were carefully selected with the intention to bring forth sonic vibrations to help lift you up and guide you into the light. Quite simply, this mix can be summed in three words: Patient. Ambient. Bliss.  So take a load off, relax, and melt into the chill, calming space that is "Bliss."

Bliss

This set was put together for the now quarterly Holotropic Happy Hour live stream on Bluetech's channel on Twitch to celebrate the longest day of the year during the Summer Solstice.  I chose the name "Float" for this particular mix, because it's a collection of mostly chill and uplifting songs that make you feel like you're floating on a cloud.  We do get into some grooves during the middle of this mix, and even have an unreleased Chando track thrown in there that will be on my upcoming album, Into the Light, which drops on 08/22/2023.

Temporary Light

Duality is the second single off of Into the Light and is a synth-heavy drum & bass / instrumental hip-hop tune that ebb and flows between half time and double time, with parallel themes that echo throughout the song. This track's inspiration is similar to the overall inspiration of the entire album, focusing on the Duality of life. The quote from George Yung's father from the movie Blow sums it up quite well: "Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on."

Duality

Perception is one of two vocal tracks from Into The Light. The lyrics are based on the idea that your life is made up of your perception of the world around you and they offer up a simple piece of advice: to make the best of what you see in your surroundings, and focus on the light in the lens you look at the world through.

Dreaming in Analog, one of two synth-inspired space odysseys on the album. These two synth odysseys are inspired by the ambient music I was turned onto over the course of the pandemic from our weekly Holotropic Happy Hour live streams. I was only marginally exposed to this genre prior to these streams, but I gained an appreciation for chill, meditative, and often trance inducing nature of its free form, ever-evolving droning tones. In an attempt to capture the analog warmth and generative nature of the genre, this track was recorded in one single session, with very little editing or post-production work in an effort to leave the track in a real and raw form. And while I have limited access to analog hardware, I did my best to use software synthesizers which are modeled after their hardware counterparts, hence the title “Dreaming” in Analog.

Dreaming In Analog

Holdin' Onto Me is the first Chando tune that ever featured live vocals. I originally released this track back in 2019, but it's gotten a major face lift since then, here what's changed. The drums were updated to match the rest of the album, I re-recorded synth line in the middle, gave it a new mix & master, but most importantly, the vocals have all been re-recorded, with 3-part harmonies featured at the end of this track! Holdin' Onto Me is one of two tracks on Into the Light that feature live vocals by yours truly.

Holdin' Onto Me

This track will take you on a journey though the middle east, stopping off to briefly visit the legendary news anchor, Ron Burgundy, followed by a trip into the world of Umphrey's McGee, Nothing Too Fancy though. Introducing the very first edition of Brunch with Chando. Over the course of roughly a 3-year period, I played a number of brunch sets in the River North Art District of Denver at the rooftop bar of The Woods Restaurant. This was typically a monthly gig on Sundays, and towards the end of my tenure there, I started to record the sets I was playing. The majority of these sets focused on chill, but groovy downtempo tunes, with some lounge house usually finding its way into the set near the end.

Downtempo music that grooves is some of my most favorite music to listen to and to play, and I'm forever grateful that I got the opportunity to curate these types of sets and expand the DJ catalog with a wide swath of tunes that you don't typically get to play in the night time club setting. Brunch With Chando Vol. 1

Prior to the epic Boogie Lights headliner at the Bluebird back in May, my friends over at Vibrate Your Best Energy put on a special edition of their Park & Play, which is a gathering of creative minds and all around good people at Cheesman Park, encouraged to play, create, and just have a good time! 

During this edition of Park & Play, I was invited to DJ along with other members and friends of the Boogie Bunch and I knew I had to come up with something super funky, fresh and fun.  This is the set that came out of that incredible Sunday afternoon. It's starts out with a little bass-funk, before transitioning into a near hour of house music, topped off with a little bass-house mash up that I just couldn't believe worked so well together.  

This is without a doubt some of the best live mixing I've done and it's easily one of the most fun sets I've put together and released to date! Strap on those dancing shoes and let's get FUNKY!

Welcome to Brunch with Chando Vol. 4, where the tunes are chill but the vibes are always high. This particular set is a snippet from a springtime session of the brunch gigs I had at the rooftop bar of The Source Hotel. I often times liked to start the sets more downtempo & chill and then ramp them up into an up-tempo, but still chill type of vibe. Brunch With Chando Vol. 4

This Après Ski DJ is part 1 of a two-part series, which features a 4-hour DJ set I played in Winter Park at the A-Frame club near the base of the mountain on the Winter Park side of the mountain. This particular Après DJ set was the last one of the season (I did 5 in total) and featured that legendary, warm, Colorado sunshine while the mountain was still fully covered in snow, so naturally we setup outside for this one. The set started out on the chiller side of things, as the first 30 minutes or so was pretty quiet, but then, it eventually picked up in a groovy house-inspired type of set as people started to arrive. Once the BPMs started to rise, they never really stopped as more and more people started to fill in and soak in that Après vibe. Enjoy Part of my Après DJ set. Part 2 will be coming soon!

Après Ski Pt. I

Part 2 of this Après Ski DJ set is when things really started to get interesting. This was the first time I was requested to play a 4-hour set for this particular gig, but little did I know that the folks at the A-Frame Club in Winter Park had hired some fire poi performers to really heat things up for the last two hours of the set. So naturally, once they showed up and started doing their thing, I felt the need to bring the music into a little more tribal and weirder sort of vibe to match their energy and this is where the set really starts to come alive. For the last two hours of this set we weave been the strange and unknown musically, while still coming back to a more high-energy house feel to keep the vibes high and keep people’s sprits uplifted until the sunset. This was a really fun set and one of my favorites of year!
