Diana Azzuz’s first solo installment on Standard Deviation is the artist’s initial connection to electronic club sounds and presents a subtle transformation within her artistic practice. Through her mostly conceptual approach, Azzuz seeks to challenge notions of sound explicitly by disobeying common expectations and preconceptions. The EP is called ”Anastrophe”, a fitting title describing rearrangement as a strategy to create sound.

The Video shot for the second track ”Recursive Gesture” revolves around the idea of metamorphosis in the modern world, highlighting unpredictable, unidentifiable aspects of human ways of thinking within the so dominantly emerging cross-virtual world. Azzuz wants to present the limitations of human preconceptions in the virtual age of uncertainty and fluidity. As the artist describes, ”why are things perceived to be fixed and certain and how can I communicate and articulate this contingency?”, Azzuz draws on different tools like AI in her work, visually depicting a fluid state of self-modulation, morphosis within time and space, aiming to emphasize the fundamental ambiguity within our lives.

While ”A Very Touchy Spot”, the first track of the EP is a subtle and mysterious entry into Azzuz’ world of sounds, using ambient textures combined with classical drum elements, ”Recursive Gesture” tries to escape this initial idea towards influences of Grime, Bass and contemporary forms of Dubstep creating a powerful bass roller. ”Pathos”, the last track on the EP, is a heavy hitting roundup taking on modern club sounds, using elements of Gabber, Trance and Hardcore. Inherent to all tracks, a rather dark mood carries the tracks and embeds them into a coherent ambiguous feeling of unpredictability, uncertainty and fluidity.

The EP get’s supported with remixes from M.E.S.H., who’s contributing with a new Alias ”eea” (Extreme Energy Availability) on ”Recursive Gesture”. Cologne based musician Swan Meat rounds it up, taking a shot on ”Pathos”.

Ice_Eyes ‘Age of Collectivity’ STRP Festival 2021 x Post Neon

The sixteenth chapter in World Canvas’ mix series comes from Copenhagen-based experimental artist and composer Xenia Xamanek. Having released under prolific Danish imprints such as Anyines and OUMPHFF, Xamanek has crafted an adventurous approach to composition and songwriting. 
On their mix for World Canvas, Xamanek presents songs from various different fields ranging from experimental hiphop to dembow-inspired rhythmical explorations.

APEAK - After The Rains

A storm has washed over the city, the wet asphalt reflecting the inauspicious red sky. The time has come; to leave the towering city landmarks behind, to shed the skin of a past life, to be reborn in a high octane amniotic fluid.

'After The Rains' is the spiritual successor to APEAK's 2020 Changeless debut 'Grey Skies', which sees him working with vocalists again while expanding his sonic palette further. Following the foreboding opener 'Where We Are From, The Birds Are Dead', we are lulled by the seraphic voice of Helsinki-based real-life angel queendyster on 'See The Light'. The anthemic rumblings of 'Graze' cascade into the cavernous echoes of 'M-Way', which features the London-based Felix Lee on vocals. Closing the record off is 'Clocktowers' with it's blaring synths and noisy elements scurrying atop the monumental bass tones.

IDA Radio: Changeless w/ Exploited Body & APEAK - 26th January 2022

After months of work, I present my 4th collaboration with Chuncho Productions, and the official soundtrack of "COMPLETELY UNREMARKABLE", a wrestling film full of violence, drama and heartbreak. It's definitely worth a watch and this soundtrack is definitely worth a listen!

I experimented a lot with this one, playing around with rock elements, electronic noise and ambient soundscapes. Together, it's a mix of lots of cool genres and ideas in one, with every track bringing something different to the table. I'm excited to finally share this with you all after finishing it back in April of this year. Thank you guys so much for the support and Carlos for putting together this amazing film for me to work on. Hope y'all love it!
