Exploited Body - Atrocity (Grievance As A Substitute For Existence)

Oroboro alias Emanuele Rossi is an Italian-born and based theatre sound designer as well as an aspiring producer. After sharing his debut EP "Wild Mutation", sophomore EP "A Clockwork Existence" via TAR, and making a cameo on Air Max 97's label DECISIONS with an EP "Harkonnen", this time Rossi's sonic focus has allowed him to return to his homeland this time around. Throughout his new work, he aspires to cautiously absorb as well as proudly embrace the attitude and the sonics of punk-slash-hardcore scenes, which are vividly present in his hometown of Cesena. As our anniversary #020, we at Gin&Platonic are excited to present Oroboro's latest project - a bestial chimera named "NOVOID".

Stitched out of often contradictory elements, the influences here are meticulously studied but also are undergoing quite a burdensome test. As is the tentious mini-album intertwined with misery and confusion, it might come out as a true ordeal for a fearsome listener. "NOVOID refers to the act of trying to stuff everything in every place, the sort of Horror Vacui I always had in making music but also to the horror vacui that pervades everybody’s life in one way or another", Rossi states. In contrast to the producer's rigorous research of insights of the local scene, the blueprint of NOVOID remains primitive and imperfect, chaotic even, but way far from just a strange compound of different and established musical norms. Creeping out from the shade of Cesena, NOVOID is an affectionate creation driven by both visceral anger and inconsolable sentiment.

The second katharsis release of the year is the EP “Chasms Where Streams Fall And Disperse” by Italian artist POL100, coming out on February 28th. On its five tracks, POL100 takes you on a deep reflective journey through his meditative sound design, by combining uncanny airy pads with stuttering effects and delicate synth melodies.

With each track named after a mineral, the artist aims to interpret how the flow of water sliding through the rocky veins of the earth creates unique textural objects. The technological nature of our planet is embodied by digital and organic ambiances throughout the EP. This very ambient sound expression is novel to the artist, whose latest release was the intense clubby EP “Sepsis” on Bound Centre in September 2020.

Electronic and ambient soundscapes meld with japanese instrumentation and rouge-ah's poignant harp to create a sonic tapestry that ebbs and flows between moments of serene beauty and frenzied dissonance.
From longing nostalgia to the violent confusion and disorientation that comes with the loss of memory, this tracking shot invites the listener to explore the nuances of each sound and word, amidst the juxtaposition of brutal distortion, soaring melodies and punishing walls of noise.
The bold vocals, expertly crafted by Archipel, add another layer of depth to the already rich sonic landscape, shifting from demonic whispers to lullabies in the blink of an eye.

Even in its most turbulent moments, "Radicor al flort, espert on'ill il erb, aor Raetia" remains grounded in a sense of grace and beauty. The echoes of this immersive sonic experience will stay with you long after the music has stopped.
