John Eckhardt is a hunter-gatherer of all things bass and one of the most versatile bass artists in a wide field of today's music. As acoustic and electric bass player, he features on over 40 recordings and in solo and ensemble performances around the globe. He has published a series of internationally acclaimed solo releases as one of a kind art editions, and employs bass instruments to probe room acoustics, landscapes and histories in sound installations. His Basswald DJ podcast is dedicated to experimental sound system culture. In addition, his passion for photography has fed into his work as well.

Chao-Ming Tung is a Taiwanese-born composer and gu-zheng player (Chinese zither) based in Cologne, Germany. His music encompasses stage, instrumental, vocal, and electro-acoustic works, and multimedia-performances with visual arts and dance.  Since 2000 he has gradually incorporated Chinese instruments into his music, and improvises with gu-zheng and live electronics in concerts. 

Tung’s work has been presented in concerts of numerous festivals throughout Europe, Asia, and the USA.  He has collaborated with choreographers, dancers, painters, musicians, ensembles, sound-, media- and video artists, e.g. Annegret Heiln, René Pieters, Bernhard Gal, Klang Forum Wien, Ensemble Ictus, Ensemble Modern, ensemble 2e2m, Ensemble On-Line Vienna , ensemble DEDALO, and China Found Music Workshop Taipei.
He was awarded the Bernd Alois Zimmermann Scholarship for Composers from the City of Cologne in 1999, the Scholarship of National Culture and Arts Foundation Taiwan in 2001 and Stipendium of Villa Aurora Los Angles 2004. From 2006 – 2007 , he was  composer in residence of China Found Music Workshop Taipei. Since 2007, he teaches composition at the Ciao Tung University in Taiwan.

Franz Martin Olbrisch was born in Mülheim/Ruhr in 1952. He received his musical education at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin between 1979 and 1985. He has been the recipient of various prizes and scholarships which, for example, in 1985 took him to Italy, in 1992 to the ZKM in Karlsruhe, in 1998 to the Heinrich Strobel Foundation in Freiburg, in 2001 to the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basel, in 2003 to the Ville Aurora in Los Angeles and in 2006 to the Cité internationale des arts in Paris for several month. 

Between 1988 and 2008 he was instructor of composition and studio technique at the Universität der Künste Berlin and the Technical University in Berlin. In 1994, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2014, he was instructor of composition at the International Summer Courses in Darmstadt. From 2008 to 2020 he was professor of composition and electronic music at the University of Music Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden , from 2011 to 2021 he was Vice-President of the GNM (German Section of the International Society for Contemporary Music), since 2014 a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts and from 2015 to 2018 Vice-President of the Saxon Academy of Arts.

His works was performed among others at the World Music Days in Yokohama and Stuttgart, the Donaueschingen Music Festival, the Witten Days for new Chamber Music, the Festival ECLAT Stuttgart, the Festival international des musiques experimentales in Bourges, the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC)and the VIPER Festival in Basel. Among the artists of his compositions include ensembles such as the Radio Symphony Orchestra of the SWR, the HR Symphony Orchestra, the Arditti String Quartet,the Ensembles Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Recherche and Musikfabrik NRW.

Sebastian Nagretshei, also known as Zoe (Yi-Cheng )Lin, is a composer and software engineer specializing in digital music. Holding a doctoral degree in composition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she previously led AI music research as Chief Music Officer at an AI music company. Currently, Lin is a full-time composer and adjunct assistant professor at National Taiwan Normal University. Her expertise lies in visual-auditory synesthetic electronic music, 3D immersive composition, and ambisonic system sound projection.

Composer (/curator/writer/researcher/video artist) Mu-Xuan Lin (林慕萱) (Taiwan/USA) defines her life as a quest for an artistic autonomy poetically engendered by both its will and its vulnerability to one’s corporeal experience and to the world one lives in. Having had extensive training in the visual arts and creative writing and frequent exposure to theatre, dance, and literature from an early age, and profound influences from the cinema, Mu-Xuan is interested in the intrinsic kineses latent within any expressive matter which can be extracted, dissected, critiqued, and recreated in new artistic deliverances.

Described by the Los Angeles Times as “fascinating” and by the SRF2 kultur as “sonically sensuous,” her music has been heard worldwide, and on a SOOND (EU) and an ein_klang (Austria) records. She is a guest-composer/faculty at the Novalis music+art Festival (Croatia) and the New Music on the Bluff festival (USA), the winner of the Protonwerk No.3 award (Switzerland) and Ensemble Adapter’s commission project “Adoptions 2017” (Germany), an artist-in-residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (France), an awardee of New Music USA, Max Kade, Mellon, Center for German and European Studies (DAAD program), FACE Croatia, Gardner Read, ASCAP grants, and multiple NCAF (國藝會, Taiwan) grants. Recently, in addition to composition and an increased engagement in video art, Mu-Xuan is venturing into the work of performing arts curation and dramaturge. In 2023, she co-founded Studio Nekton (宇宙微波) with flutist/performer Shao-Wei Chou for further developing collaborative projects involving programing, curation, and creations.  She was the concept-curator, dramaturg, visual and stage designer of Taiwanese zheng artist Jing-Mu Kuo’s 2023 abstract-theatrical recital “Waterfalls” involving five new compositions (Taiwan), and served as the artistic director/conception, visual and stage designer, media artist, and co-producer for Studio Nekton’s 2024-25 multimodal program “Speak, Transparence” (France and Taiwan) featuring Shao-Wei Chou, storytelling artist Soma Yang, and herself (as composer-dancer).

Mu-Xuan received her Bachelor of Music in Composition from the New England Conservatory, MFA and Ph.D. in Music Composition and Theory from Brandeis University, and the Certificate of Advanced Studies Curating (CAS) at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.  Her primary instructors in composition include David Rakowski, Melinda Wagner, Yu-Hui Chang (張玉慧), Eric Chasalow, Michael Gandolfi, Larry Bell, and Ya-Ming Hsu (許雅民). She has also received instruction from Mark Andre, Oscar Bianchi, Chaya Czernowin, Francesco Filidei, Joshua Fineberg, Beat Furrer, Bernhard Gander, Georg Friedrich Haas, Stephen Hartke, Philippe Hurel, Louis Karchin, Fabien Lévy, Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf, Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Hilda Paredes, Hèctor Parra, Rebecca Saunders, Dominique Schafer, Johannes Schöllhorn, Oscar Strasnoy, Hans Thomalla, and Jukka Tiensuu. At the ZhdK (Zürich) for the curating program, she was under the tutelage of Dorothee Richter.

As a researcher, Mu-Xuan’s Ph.D. dissertation “On the Epistemological and the Methodological Approaches in the Analysis of Contemporary Music and a Synthesized Analysis of Fausto Romitelli’s La Sabbia del Tempo (1991) illuminates her interest in the epistemological aspects of artistic and musical creativity. Her 2023 article “The Erotic and the Melancholy of a Sincere Postmodern Identity – the cinematic spaces and a vulnerable time” will be published by Cambridge Scholars in the volume "Crossing into Distance: Contemporary Composers on the Present and Future of Art Music" in 2024/25. As the primary investigator, her interview (co-authored with Maria Sorensen) with German sociologist Klaus Theweleit about his psychoanalytic works on right-wing fascism, will be published in 2025-26.

As a music educator, Mu-Xuan is an Assistant Professor of Composition at the University of California, Berkeley.  She has previously taught at Brandeis University and California State University Long Beach, and had served as an Instructional Professor and a lecturer at Chapman University.
