A new Chapter is upon us. ‘The Mirror: Reflected’ dazzles with four brilliant representations of Kieran Apter's original works released on Chapter 24 in early 2018.

Apter, a label regular hotly tipped for success as the head honcho and resident DJ of Edinburgh house and techno party ‘Tweak_’, is joined this time by four heavyweights who make a big impression.

Co-owner of Maeve, The Drifter is a DJ and producer of the highest order. He opens the book with an Edition of the title track which pairs bombast and dancefloor drive with a heavy dose of cosmic disco goodness.

The first to rework ‘Without’, Apter’s collaboration with Leon Power, is Hamburg’s very own Doctor Dru. The track is a masterclass in deep, propulsive and forward-thinking house music that makes full use of the haunting and evocative vocal of the original.

Next, ESP Institute, Futureboogie and Culprit artist and hero of Ibiza’s We Love… at Space, Ian Blevins presents a deep, contemplative and emotional meditation for the afterhours as his reimagination of the track.

Domenic Cappello closes the EP out. The legendary DJ and mainstay of Glasgow’s Sub Club recasts ‘Without’ through layered and interweaving arpeggios that are reminiscent of Larry Heard. The effect is highly compelling and hypnotic and a fitting end to the package.

Both deep and emotional, functional and meaningful, 'The Mirror: Reflected' EP presents four stories in sound from key players in the game that each cast a light on the power of dance music to move us.

The Berlin based artist, whose previous releases were well received club oriented weapons, manages to walk the thin line between ambitious House music and demanding Techno again. The EP's title track 'Washing And Singing' is a profound melodic still dance floor compatible track whose idea is based on 'the picture of women washing clothing in the river and making music with the water while singing on top' as ZK Bucket says.

Taking the first step into 2018, Rebellion welcomes Cologne’s Jonathan Kaspar. Hot on the heels of his debut release Zarun on Crosstown Rebels as part of the new Spirits compilation, the accomplished producer invites us into his world to deliver a wholly mystical two track EP.

Deep, rumbling pads swell and fall as subtle shakes entice the senses in title track Boson. Sonder soon follows with melodic bursts and deep chords in dreamy layers. “I made both tracks right after each other and immediately felt they paired up really nicely,” Jonathan reveals. ‘Boson’ is raw, bassy and percussive, whereas ‘Sonder’ holds a certain deepness, a hidden vocal and a lot of different noises. I remember so many nights and days playing them out. They are like the soundtrack of my 2017.“

DJ and producer Jonathan Kaspar has released on the likes of Objektivity, Pets Recordings and Kompakt´s KX, while also being resident of the famed Gewölbe club. A standout of last year was his massive Ibiza anthem, Khaya, named in Pete Tong’s top ten ‘Class of 2017’. Big things are set for 2018, starting with remixes for Catz ´n Dogz, Hyenah and Pokerflat plus this solo EP on Rebellion.

Sunlit ecstasy, slow-mo bounce, epic delirium, deep-rooted satisfaction and inbetween a neatly arranged dose of weekend bravado that serves as the ignition spark for the mighty grooves to come: What Kyrill & Redford present on this new EP sounds almost like a mini album – for the plain and simple reason that it is a trip in five chapters that takes a remarkable and highly entertaining amount of unexpected twists and turns. There's the formidable Wild West vibe that evolves from the casual guitar and harmonica melodies of Mondeou. The glandular kick of Kombvcha that is triggered by a spiralling gravitational force somewhere between the worlds of Tech and House. There's the epic soundscapes and mind-bending vantage points of the world of sound known as Navegante. The bouncy joy of Natem that moves in a dancing manner around the irresistible undertow of catchiness that is the vocal of this track. And last but not least the soaring lightness of Ramta that sweeps you across the dancefloor as if you were a colorful leave tumbling in a warm storm of sound.

Having previously featured on Eskimo Recordings' 2018 compilation 'The Purple Collection’ as one half of Languages, Franz Matthews returns to the label alongside fellow Berliners Local Suicide with 'Meditation / Tutan Jamon', 2 tracks of heady disco that join the dots between the German capital and the sun soaked souks of North Africa.

Despite living on the same street for 4 years Franz Matthews and Brax Moody and Vamparela from Local Suicide only met recently through their common friend Sam Berdah (Days of Being Wild, Club Bizarre). Making up for lost time, the trio soon found themselves bonding in the studio, digging into their love of both the esoteric and travelling, and together channelled those passions into 2 spiritually infused numbers.
 
'Meditation'was the first result of this inspired partnership, appropriately recorded at the same time that Matthews was also recording music for a meditation app, and features a freeform stream of consciousness from Vamparela over a suitably hypnotic backing of wistful guitars and breezy rhythms. 'Tutan Jamon' meanwhile shares its DNA with recent Eskimo releases by the likes of Simple Symmetry and SHMLSS, the track built around a couple of very Egyptian influenced riffs and comes in two distinct versions.
 
Between his production studio MOWD, his duo Languages, and his solo electronic project, Franz Matthews keeps himself busy. Making Berlin his hometown for the past 5 years, the Franco-German producer and DJ has always kept one hand in the Indie Dance world, while the other wanders in more Psychedelic Pop realms, a winning combination that's seen him release music on imprints such as Eskimo Recordings, Days of Being Wild, Rockets & Ponies.
 
Local Suicide, aka DJs and producers Brax Moody and Vamparela, meanwhile have made a name for themselves putting on some of the most infamous underground parties Berlin has to offer, running their acclaimed blog and still finding time to make waves with their productions, a wild fusion of new wave, acid, slow techno and post-disco that has seen them work with the likes of Rodion, Mijo and Curses in recent years.
