Lemongrass - "A Dream Within A Dream"

When Roland Voss released his first "Ambient Land" EP in 2007, it wasn't to be expected that this would turn out to be an open gateway to a new dimension of the Lemongrass universe. Beautifully deep and light as a feather the EP easily found access to the ears and hearts of a large number of people. A stunning mixture of Ambient, New Age, Chillout, Listening and Meditation music takes form as an harmonious whole. Stylistically confident tradition and modernity appear in soothing simplicity and meet a desperate urge of our times for human warmth, harmony and spiritual tranquility.

Lemongrass kept developing this new form of artistic expression in the subsequent publications. Another "Ambient Land" EP and the album "Hypnosis" followed. So is the new album "A dream within a dream", having the world of ambience as its central manifestation. Indeed it even appears as a concept album. Like dream phases, in which continually rinse new content, 18 songs rise from the space-time continuum. Cosmic beauty is set to music in a weightless ease, leaving us breathless by facing the majestic sound of infinity. Lemongrass manages to keep it all in an open state of wideness by creating a conscious reduction to an accented minimum of structures. No trace of bombast and compulsive technical show-off. The album appears as close and familiar as a good old friend. Roland Voss expresses his obsession with science fiction and the mysteries of the universe not only musically. Just look on the title names and the album cover artwork and it is more than clear, where the journey will lead us to.

For three tracks of the album Lemongrass received prominent support. The Russian singer Jane Maximova underscores the general expression of "A dream within a dream" with her sensitive vocal work in an impressive and captivating way. The well known producer and musician Daniel Voss (Five Seasons, Weathertunes, Green Empathy) helps with technical support. The Voss brothers are jointly leading the fortunes of their record label "Lemongrassmusic" since 2005. In times when Ambient music needs to revive itself by exploring new ways, Roland Voss succeeded by building a soothing bridge. He respectfully bows down before the great tradition of Electronic Ambient music and at the same time uses the almost limitless technical possibilities of the modern era in service of the musical expression of his own innermost galaxies.



Deep River (feat. Jane Maximova)

For Casomat's second release we're extremely happy to welcome Berlin duo Man & Wife to the label, who contribute two diverse originals served together with a remix by Johannes Klingebiel.

Man & Wife, originally from England, have spent the last 7 years in the Techno-Hauptstadt, not only honing their production skills but also developing their musical tastes, drawing in influences from all over the electronic spectrum. They describe their sound as "fundustrial dischno" and it's not hard to see why when you hear their varied productions.

'Blonde' is an understated four-to-the-floor number, sitting on the border between house &techno and elegantly pairing soul & melody with raw & almost industrial sounding drums. An interesting combination which bridges the gap between styles not normally heard together.

Stepping up to rework 'Blonde' is Johannes Klingebiel, whose recent releases include a 12" on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space and an LP on his own 'ancient future now' imprint. He lays a garage-influenced groove and a bouncy bassline under the main arp from the original, with plenty of lush reverbs, spacey delays and tasteful distortion to boot.

The latest release on Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music finds the label showcasing new remixes from Noraj Cue's 'Kobalt' LP. Released in April of 2015, the 15 track collection went on to critical acclaim and still sits as the Dutch artists most diverse and accomplished work to date. With the summer club and festival season upon us Manual Music now presents the third and final remix edition for the LP. Featured on the project are Britta Arnold & Unders, Kid Culture,  Furrr & Hazendonk and Noraj himself who all bring their own unique vision in that trademark Manual Music spirit.

Chapter 24 is back with a fine new story in sound from Oliver Schories. The German producer serves up one standout original and then gets remixed in great style by Marc DePulse, Third Son and Atapy.

The Hamburg man is well known for his quality house and stripped back minimal sounds. He plays at some of the best clubs in Europe and has released on Parquet, Steyoyoke, Darkroom Dubs, his own label SOSO and many more. He impresses once again here with Artik, which is a broody cut with dark bass underpinning an arching groove. Subtle synth patterns flesh it out and spooky vocals really add an air of intrigue.

Marc DePulse then strips it back to make it a deep and dubby roller that really gets under your skin. The fast-rising Third Son comes good once more with eight minutes of deep and spine tingling tech complete with starry melodies and big hi hat ringlets. Lastly, Romanian Atapy finishes things off in style with another spacious, warm and rolling cut that is deep and delicious.

Nothing Is Real welcome Low Manuel for the 6th release of the label. 

Low Manuel is a real music lover born in Italy in the 90’s.  His music vision is the expression of his character, introspective, dark and sophisticated.
His style is a mixture of indie electronic but also Techno and his compositions transmit emotions, influenced by the Stars and the Marine World. The 'Scourge Ep' explores new musical shades, hinting at moments of new wave through a lens of psychedelia.
The title track is a trip with an incredibly catchy rhythmic pattern and a strong bassline, while 'The Room’ has a ravey hypnotic and powerful touch.
The Italian duo Margot remix ’The Scourge’ delivering a strong version with their typical synth-driven kraut-techno style adding insane beats, fizzing synths and peaking chords for optimal dancefloor effect. While Nhar gives us his unique and introspective reinterpretation giving the track a mesmerizing deep electronic vibe, taking us to a journey between the bright and dark sides.
