Ransom Note is an online music, arts and culture magazine. We provide a home for readers and writers with boundless enthusiasm, esoteric knowledge, fierce opinions and impeccable taste.

With our core team immersed in all aspects of dance music, we publish news, articles, and interviews covering the greatest in innovative, underground culture from across the globe. We offer regular, exclusive music and mixtapes from our favourite artists, and publish features shining a light on everything from the freshest new artists to the untold tales from rave history.

Alongside this we offer musings on film, books, life, and art, generating some context and controversy as an antidote to the reheated PR that clogs up the internet. Our office is fuelled by Tunnock’s Bars, cat memes, hangovers and a ridiculous, never ending love for our culture.

Heist Recordings was founded by Dam Swindle as a means to gain full control over their own releases, and to create a stage for likeminded musicians to showcase their music. From the first release on, Dam Swindle’s “Break up to make up” EP in summer 2013, Heist has been a go to label for proper underground house and electronic music. Now, nearly 40 releases and 5 compilations in, Heist has brought forward artists like Frits Wentink, Nebraska, Adesse Versions, Fouk, Kassian, Nachtbraker and Alma Negra and continues to search for new talent, with Lars & Maarten fully focused on the A&R side of the label. 

Up till 2016, remixes on the label have been solely done by other original Heist artists on the yearly “Round up EP”, where the remixer and remixee get connected by the luck of the draw and a limited edition double pack is put out. After that, Maarten and Lars decided it was time to add remixers to the EP’s as well, which saw interesting collaboration, expanded the label family with names like Matthew Herbert, Tom Noble, Pépé Bradock, Ge-ology and Byron the Aquarius. 

In 2023 we've celebrated 10 years of Heist Recordings. The year showed a whole batch of releases by new artists like Byron the Aquarius, Amy Dabbs and Cinthie and by Dam Swindle themselves.

To celebrate 10 years of Boogie Cafe Record Label, we’re thankful for the incredible music we’ve been able to share and the talented artists we've worked with. Founded by Alex and Chezz, the label has grown over time with a presence in both Bristol and Rotterdam, reflecting our love for diverse sounds from around the world.

Since the start, Boogie Cafe has been about curating and releasing music that blends different styles, with a focus on disco, house, and soulful electronic beats. We've connected with music lovers from Bristol to Rotterdam and beyond, and we’re grateful for the support along the way.

We've been lucky to collaborate with some amazing artists like Dj Nature, Admin, Piers Kirwan, Sean McCabe, Tommy Rawson, Kofi The Unknown, Ron Basejam, Yam Who?, OG Wang, Beau Zwart, and many others, all of whom have brought something special to the label’s sound.

We’re proud of the music we've shared and continue to focus on pushing creative boundaries while blending old school influences with fresh ideas. It’s about having fun with music and exploring new sounds, and we’re glad to be part of it all.
