Esoteric Festival is a truly magical event. I love making the annual pilgrimage knowing that I will have the chance to reconnect with friends, make new connections, and bask in the incredibly crafted festival space with an inspiring soundtrack. 

This is the live recording of my set at Chill Island on a sunny Sunday afternoon and takes a slightly different path than my previous chill sets. 

In addition to a whole stack of downtempo electronica, this year I’ve listened to a bunch of garage, drum & bass, and a huge amount of new artists releasing rave influenced tunes across genres. These diverse sounds have inspired and found their way into my chill set this year and I’m stoked with the result.

This set moves through downtempo and broken beats with some garage and rave influences, offset by some dreamy ambient and spoken word. Enjoy the journey through sounds both old and new…

Hello everyone!! You are tuned in once again to our exclusive weekly Progcast, time to turn up the volume and get ready for another awesome DJ mix. 

We are continuing our tour of England and it seems only fitting that we visit Manchester, home of many a world class DJ. He has an outstanding reputation amongst the free party scene, and has delivered us a mix made solely of his own reworks and remixes, including a special one off for us! Make some noise for GoneWest!

GoneWest (James West) is a genre-defiant DJ and Producer from Manchester, influenced by a variety of underground artists, labels, club nights and festivals. 

In his mid-teens, James went from being a metalhead to discovering a love for electronic music through the likes of The Prodigy, James Holden, Aphex Twin and Infected Mushroom. He cut his teeth at dubstep raves in Manchester before he could even get into a club, and when he did, it was the legendary Tangled in Manchester.

James's first started DJing at Psy-Trance parties, mostly in the forests of North Wales and, once he started getting deeper into the scene, quickly held residencies at both Crystal Kids and Elemental, held in Manchester and Leeds respectively.

He has supported some big names in the psychedelic scene, such as Infected Mushroom, Ace Ventura, Avalon, GMS and Juno Reactor. He has played at festivals like Illusive, Anthropos, Solfest and Transition, held in Spain.

James is constantly searching for deep, melodic, progressive and psychedelic techno sounds to use in his DJ sets, remixes and productions. In this mix he uses unreleased, brand new material apart from the first track which was released on Bandcamp.

One of the most incredible stage designs I have ever witnessed, and could not be more honoured to play on! Had an incredible time up in Byron Bay NSW playing at Bohemian Beat Freaks 2017, the sister-festival of Rabbits Eat Lettuce. Here is the mix recording - I played at 1:30am Friday night, right after Sebastian Mullaert on the Tree of Life Stage.

Melbourne based artist @charlesolivermusic delivers a spellbinding mix for the next instalment in the LWE series.
 
Cutting his teeth touring Australia’s world famous festivals and clubs, most notably Rainbow Serpent and Revolver Upstairs, Charles is now expanding his reach worldwide. With his own brand of high octane, experimental techno, Charles has gained support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Faithless (Sister Bliss), and Maceo Plex. In 2017, he announced his arrival with the brilliant EP 'Heights', climbing into the top 10 on the Beatport charts.
