Unfinished Business

This is me playing my alto saxophone to Jeremih's "Planes."  The first time I heard this song, I knew it would sound pretty rad with saxophone, so I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out.

On this song, the saxophone represents the crazy, uncontrolled and uncontrollable feeling that comes with love: feeling like you can conquer the world and no one can stop you.  That's why I played it a little harder and added some growls, to add that edge, the boldness of love.  

However, the singing freestyle that I added in is meant to counterbalance that confidence, both musically and emotionally.  The singing is so soft and light, because it represents the other side: self doubt, hoping that the feeling of love is returned.  The phrase "Say yeah" is constantly repeated throughout the song because those doubts are always there, beneath the surface, and finally reveal themselves at the end of the song.  

Maybe all of this is hard to understand. Maybe I'm crazy about love, but these are the things that went through my mind while recording this song, and (I think) I'm pleased with how the song turned out as a whole.
