TRYING TO GET HOME TO YOU

Rock music is my passion, I’ve spent thousands of hours watching and listening to some of the greatest musicians, many, sadly, having left us. I’ve played piano, organ, electric and acoustic guitar, bass and many other instruments for over 50 years, mostly self-taught, but with the help of some amazingly talented people. I’ve been in many unsigned bands of varying quality and, for the last 25 years, in a gloriously noisy and well-loved covers band in West London called The Breaks ( www.the-breaks.co.uk )
I’ve always written and recorded my own music but never dared perform it; I never felt worthy and somewhat of an imposter. I finally recorded a series of instrumental tracks, prompted by a theme around the chaos my generation is leaving for the next to sort out. There was such hope of creating a better world in the Sixties and the consequences of our legacy are truly depressing, the lunatics have firmly taken over the asylum and seem unlikely to hand the keys back. 
The tracks are an eclectic mix of styles, some have been 45 years in the making, others a few weeks. I play every instrument (except drums) and there are deliberate imperfections to prove it’s not generated by AI! I find writing and recording instrumental tracks liberating, the lack of vocals mean they don’t need to follow such a strict pattern, it allows a freedom of form and structure. 
My influences are many and varied; from piano jazz (elements of Keith Jarret, without the virtuosity and skill) to Pink Floyd and Radiohead to The Stranglers and ‘Chilli Peppers to The Strawbs!
The best way to listen to rock music is a vinyl LP, that’s what WRECKQUIEM really should be. I’ve built a narrative in my head, and it tells a story over for 51 minutes. I genuinely hope you get as much pleasure from listening to it as I have had making it. If WRECKQUIEM gets a positive response, I will probably record it properly in a studio.
