In 2015, American producer Kevin Brauer exploded on the international electronic music scene with his newly launched artist project Sevenn. 

His debut release, Colors of the Rainbow, was an instant hit and was followed up by a huge collaboration with Alok (BYOB) which gained tens of millions of streams virtually overnight. But it was to be his next single BOOM – alongside international megastars Tiesto and Gucci Mane – that would propel the US artist to instant global notoriety. 

With over 700 million streams to date across all platforms, Sevenn has since become a regular at some of the world’s most celebrated festivals (Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, and Creamfields to name a few), and looks set to reach the highest levels of global success, with critically acclaimed solo releases on the likes of Believe, Armada and Spinnin’ amongst others.

Now, as Sevenn looks to make an indelible mark on 2023, we’re beyond excited to be bringing the US talent to Selected. for his eagerly anticipated label debut, with Heart Back. 

Teaming up with legendary UK-based singer songwriter and Selected favourite Jem Cooke — who has won over the hearts and minds of the electronic music world following global superhits Breathe (w. Camelphat & Cristophe), My Carousel (with Tobtok) and Swimmers (with Zero 7) — the resulting collaboration is a truly beautiful vocal house cut that locks you in from the very first beat. Sevenn x Jem Cooke - Heart Back

Sternstunde, as its name suggests, is testament to a producer staying the course. Not letting motivation, or a lack of, get the better of you. A defining moment. Written during a difficult lockdown period, Sternstunde's melody suddenly came together for German artist Solee. It was the catalyst, not only for completing the tune, but also for a stream of new found inspiration.

That same melody was also the hook for Joris Voorn. 'The moment I heard Sternstunde for the first time I recognised beauty in its simplicity.' It soon became a firm favourite for the Spectrum boss, but as with many of his faves he went to work with his scalpel and wizardry, crafting an edit for his sets that takes the track to a new dimension. 'I decided to make an edit that let the melody be more present than the drums. Over the months of playing it I've received so many requests for it to be played at my future shows, so it felt like a good idea to release it.'

I've been a fan of Hans Zimmer's music for a long time now. Last year I visited his concert in Amsterdam and when I heard Now We Are Free live  it gave me goosebumps right away. I have listened to it a lot and I always thought I should do something with it. So here it is, my take on this incredible emotional masterpiece from 'The Gladiator'.
