Since my early days in dealing with mixing in the genre of electronic music, I enjoyed recording my sets, so my pleasure is even greater when this is done for our favourite label Shango Records. Deeply inspired  by the “Revenge of the flowers” tale, I created a musical journey, that is made up of various short stories borrowed by the organic house / downtempo scene.

Founded during a cold winter night on the island of Grimsey in Iceland, Abe’s focus and aim is to create and conserve timeless moments through their music. Like a formation of Northern Lights that reveal themselves to their spectators, the music of Abe is developed outside of our modern world and its regulations. It’s dark and soulful techno, both simple and complex.

The title track “Our Land” kicks things off on a lavishly transcendental note, with layers of sounds craftily filling the complete frequency spectrum. A bass heavy synth melody and crisp, precise hats compliment each other skilfully, whilst the drums and effects used provide the piece with a much-appreciated organic feel. The over eight minute composition morphs and builds without being obtrusive and is sure to leave its mark on dance floors worldwide.

Next up is the menacing “Black Horse”, which boils gently until it erupts for an ultimate peak time climax. Here we see Abe focusing on the darkest side of their work, fusing a howling bassline with a thrilling arpeggiated melody, energetic shakers and a distinct midrange synth motif. The vibrant percussion and shadowy atmospheres are sure to elevate crowds whenever played on a finely tuned sound system.

Charlie Fraîche, Jimbo Jones, and Charles Noir are all alter egos of one person: Adri, who began his journey as a party promoter in the early 2000s. Together with his friend DJ Whizz and their crew SmileyTribe, he played a key role in growing the Belgian psychedelic progressive scene.

Not long after, he stepped behind the decks himself and now you’ll find him performing under one of his three distinct aliases:

Charlie Fraîche is the storyteller... spinning tales filled with funky beats. From hypnotic deep house to atmospheric techno, from groovy minimal to funky nu disco... think outside the box and dance like nobody's watching.

Jimbo Jones is a different story... an eclectic journey through all styles and genres, smoothly mixed from one into another. Whatever fits the moment, whatever moves the crowd.

Charles Noir the most enigmatic of the three, emerges when night falls. His sound blends dark disco and indie dance into a moody, hypnotic atmosphere... music that lingers like a dream and moves like a ritual. Adri has performed at festivals and parties across Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Hungary, Sweden, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, and has played in renowned Belgian venues such as Fuse, Ampère, and Vaag.
