Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, returns to Anjunadeep with his new album 'Chiyu'.

In recent years, Senoo has built a cult following as part of a new wave of Japanese producers. His signature blend of organic melodies with intricate sound design have won him support from the likes of DJ Koze, Michael Mayer, &ME and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart. A multi-instrumentalist, Senoo has played live alongside the likes of The Field and Moritz Von Oswald at venues including Tokyo’s legendary Dommune. 

Composed throughout 2020, 'Chiyu' documents Senoo’s journey of reflection and recovery.  

“Memories and retrospection are the fundamental concept that inspire my music. For instance, my own artist name plays on the name of the Lycoris flower. In Japan, it's often found near cemeteries, which is of course a dark connotation - however one day when searching in the Language of Flowers (Floriography) I discovered that the word Lycoris also means “I’m looking forward to seeing you again”. 

I realised how this dark flower also hides a beautiful and positive message. I think my music, and my new album ‘Chiyu’, has the same kind of dualism as the Lycoris flower.”

With influences ranging from Boards of Canada and Christian Löffler, Senoo showcases his delicate production style over the 9 tracks of ‘Chiyu’. From the intertwining melodies in ‘Shizumu’ to the polyrhythmic textures of ‘Utsurou', Seeno combines dreamy soundscapes with modern electronica. A skilled photographer, Senoo also provides the imagery for the album artwork shot in his native, Japan.

Senoo’s new album follows the release of his acclaimed LP ‘Flight’, released on Anjunadeep in 2018. Positioning in the top 5 Electronic albums on iTunes, 'Flight' gained support on tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1, KEXP and NTS Radio as well as international press support.

5. Lycoriscoris - Inori (祈り)

Label head @moscoman returns to Disco Halal with an infectious, indie-dance led single entitled ‘Lost In The Sun’. Produced in collaboration with long term friend @komilev and featuring an alluring vocal offering from @eleonora - the final product is something truly special. Between the artists, a beautifully crafted sunset is painted, in which the singer's enchanting vocals shine bright. Emphatic throughout, Moscoman once again delivers a hit single that draws on a vast range of influences, in a style that’s truly unique. Completing the release sees @budakid return to the label, this time on remix duties, where he transforms the release into six minutes of euphoric bliss.

Lost In The Sun

Swiss duo Psycho Weazel are back on Iptamenos Discos, this time with their very own EP ‘Mains d’argile’ which has a range of sounds from new wave, indie dance, italo disco and house and features Curses, Local Suicide, as well as remixes from Marvin & Guy and Rafael Cerato.

The duo’s musical love story began at summer camp, where the two Swiss born musicians shared their playlists with one another. Sharing playlists led to sharing dreams, and so Psycho Weazel was born. A retro-futuristic electronic spectacle, their music blends indie-dance, cold wave and EBM. From their studio on the shore of Lake Neuchâtel, they have created an impressive catalogue of elegant and joyful dance music. Such infectious tracks can be heard lighting up dancefloors across the globe - ‘Mains d’argile' will be no exception.

The EP opens with title track 'Mains d’argile’, which features New York born, Berlin based artist Curses, who is hot off the heels of the Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX compilation he curated. Psycho Weazel describe the single: ‘a hymn to disappearance that turns into medicine for damaged partygoers’. The track is certainly godly with its transcendent intro - long, echoing and expansive, it sprays the listener with melancholic dew and then drops into somewhere present, with tight drums and a strong synth melody, guided by Curses' haunting vocal. Layers of sounds that are both grounded and soaring, bridging the gap between heaven and earth. The track ends with a wailing lead guitar, whose tone embodies a sense of longing and escapism.

Euphoria

Oona Dahl joined us at All Day I Dream last year both as a DJ and recording artists. Her first release 'high eyes'  was featured on our summer sampler and floated onto the dance floor and into the consciousness of DJ's around the world. Oona studied sound design in the USA before moving to Berlin over the summer of 2015 to continue honing and crafting her sound.  Her first full EP for ADID features deep dreamscapes and innovative arrangements underpinned by solid grooves that capture emotive, twisted melodic expressions. She and her music are a trip to the depths.

About the release :

Andre Hommen, Tim Green and Fideles get to grips with Tim Engelhardt’s stunning artist album Momemts Of Truth, delivering three distinct and highly impactful remixes. 

When 'Moments of Truth', the debut full length LP from Tim Engelhardt, landed in May this year, it took a lot of people by surprise. Released on Poker Flat, it was clear that a very exciting new talent had arrived - one that at the tender age of 19 had found a voice and sound far beyond his years.

This EP further confirms that observation, consisting of three beautifully realised remixes of some of the album’s highlights.

'Kissing Your Eyes' is reworked by André Hommen - the German househead who flips the original into a deep and loopy house bomb - the percussion is tight and fully wound up - sure to unravel a few dancefloors in the near future.

The British DJ and producer Tim Green sets to work on 'Eyes Closed' - infusing the original with his own character - a thick, pulsing bass drum, long, dramatic strings and the superb vocal from one of the album's crowning glories.

Fideles’ remix of 'Beyond Time' is typically sublime - the Italian duo Daniele Aprile & Mario Roberti take the track for a spacey, trippy ride with smooth arps and a killer groove reminiscent of Âme at their most progressive.
