Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.

First waves are brought to Charybdis by Adelia. This hypnotic soul and space traveler gravitates between Prague and Barcelona and began her technoid journey in 2015. Back in the day her sound was mostly dominated by dark and experimental elements but grew gradually over the years into the deep and hypnotic realms, which she richley represents today, drawing inspiration from her natural surroundings like the majestic pyrenees mountains, calm evergreen forests of Catalunya or the vastness of the Mediterranean sea.

She has crafted a mix, transporting you from the deepest point of the vortex, where everything stands still and only floating particles of the abyss are heard, swirling up and up in rhythmical, gurgling loops to lighter, more spherical waters, ending her circulations in full hypnotic effects of a captivating flow, which will keep you turning and turning...

In this manner Adelia takes you as a trustful adept on a journey through the multicoloured layers which represent Charybdis!

...and the waves are circling again...

This time, Charybdis label co-founder and longtime techno lover Vittjas Tief will guide you through the swirling waters of the vortex.
He began his journey as a DJ back in 1994, came to Berlin in ‘98 and started playing at various clubs. After settling he ran his very own party series “Kurzurlaub'’ from 2006 until 2014. That time shaped his unique sound, which got popular throughout the scene very fast. Fighting for a good cause he also enjoys playing for solidarity raves and acts as a co-organizer of the popular night ‘about:marionism' at ://about blank.
He has been very present on the dancefloors in Berlin and beyond for years and is well known in the underground for his deeply hypnotic and mesmerizing sets. Towards the end of 2020, Vittjas Tief took a chance and joined up with his musical partner Kindred to bring Charybdis and a new vision of Hypnotic Techno to life. 

This vision is unfolding in multilayered rhythms, mystical soundscapes, gurgling tones, flying drones and endless patterns, always trusting in the inescapable power of hypnotic repetition, transporting you into unknown dimensions... 
 
As Vittjas Tief himself once said: Trance is a state, not an insult!

Ersin Boncaoglu invites the listener to join him on his journey through a beautifully executed mix. 
The deeper the listener goes into the mix, the further they leave the uneasy reality of nowadays. Filled with ambient spaces, vocals turned into never-ending pads and dubby beats, Ersin delivers over an hour of seamlessly blended selection of his favourites.

Ersin is a Turkish  DJ based in Izmir. He's been playing music since the early 2000's. He explores a wide variety of sounds within the realms of Ambient Techno. 
He has been consistently contributing to a big number of brilliant mix platforms and we are very pleased to be able to welcome him on Cellar Door aswell.

Art Bei Ton Podcast 032: Sabine Hoffmann

For the 32nd episode of our podcast series, we are very happy to great the Berlin-based DJ Sabine Hoffmann.

Playing last summer at our Ambient open air Art Bei Ton x Waxing Phases, she brings us, through her Ambient/Techno set, to meditate between some atmospheric and cosmic vibes.

Sabine was born and raised in Berlin. She grew up listening to a diverse array of hip hop, soul, funk and crossover beats. Sabine discovered her passion for spinning vinyl around the early 2000’s, when she was first exposed to electronic music. She plays a deep blend of techno, electro, Chicago & Detroit house with nuggets of acid, funk and breakbeats rolled in.

But regardless of the style, you will always find Sabine playing vinyl only sets as she prefers the warmth of analog sounds and the classic feel of turntables. She has played at almost all the leading clubs in Berlin such as About Blank, Salon zur wilden Renate, Berghain Kantine, Griessmühle, IPSE, Farbfernseher, Golden Gate, Arena Club and the list goes on. Her international profile has been steadily increasing, she already played in Tbilisi, Paris, Baku, Yerevan, Krakow and Thessaloniki to name a few.

Sabine is the founder of “Frauengedeck”. It´s an event series focusing on an all female line up. She wants to support and present female DJs. She has held many events at different clubs throughout Berlin like Wilde Renate, Griessmühle, Farbfernseher and Beate Uwe. The first international events outside of Germany, were held in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia other country's will soon follow.

Since 2016 Sabine works at the well known OYE record shop in Berlin. She is also hosting a monthly Frauengedeck livestream, which is streamed from the OYE record shop.

She finished her Audio Engineering studies at SAE. Inspired by her gained knowledge, she started putting her focus on music production. The first result, a collaboration with No Mad Ronin is available on the label Zaijenroots.

Third installment for “Circulating Waves” is coming from Milan-based ELA.
She originated in Argentina and used to work in a club in Córdoba in 2011 where she discovered her love for electronic music. When she returned to her hometown of Buenos Aires a few years later, she got the chance to become more deeply involved with her beloved Techno through „Arjaus“ Electronic Music School, where she gained technical insights and producing skills.

Usually focusing on slower Techno and Ambient soundscapes, ELA leaves her footsteps at well-known institutions of the scene, including Crescent, Deep Electronics, Anodynic Frequencies or Ruina.
This time, she recorded a slightly faster mix for us, worshipping the inescapable vortex while oscillating between dreamy, organic fields, coloured by subtle rhythms and heavier, bass driven episodes with a psychedelic twist. 
ELA will skillfully take you on an eclectic trip through the different stages of charybdical hypnotism.

@scenecityeu is taking over on Mutant Radio to feature the Bordeaux music scene with @simpleexposition aka @insulaireleo and @blummsimon. The two members of the long-standing @tpltcollective are joining forces on a new adventure, mixing their various influences to forge a new sound, hopefully crafted for the future. Away from the decks like all of us, they forcefully returned to the coziness of home studio and spent the never-to-be-talked-about-again-year brewing with care the material upon which they could one day return behind the controls of a sound system.
