Mordio, Berlin-based IO member, is up for the next episode of “Circulating Waves”.

An artist not fixed to one finite plan he is fluid and adaptable in his approach to electronic music. During his formative years he began by exploring the subtleties of dubstep and modern bass music, where he embraced a very clean and dry sound. After moving to Berlin his horizons broadened, becoming fascinated with the
complexity of techno music. He set forth on a mission to diversify his sound, embracing the enigmatic side of electronic music: he finds solace in experimentation, creating hypnotising organic movements in the spirit of his own vitality and
newfound life experiences.

And nothing less than these powerful enigmas are defining this mix: Dark, experimental vibes which are carried by stumbling rhythms and weird noises blended with more driving, technoid parts to create outstanding hypnotic paths which lead directly into the vortex.

Circulating Waves #009 - Mordio

Our fragment series continues. This month's story is told by Vanta.

Originally from a metalcore and hardcore background, Marvin has always enjoyed electronic and experimental music. Heavily influenced by this and the techno scene in Leipzig his focus are impulsive rhythms, dissociative sounds, and dark and eerie atmospheres. 

As a founding member of PVC, he is also co-organizing raves in clubs and woods around the Leipzig area. For a few years now, he has been exploring the world of producing. 

Releasing on Labels like Aarden Records, Crescent London, Further Sessions, Proselytizing, or Charybdis he is establishing himself in the scene always seeking to refine his sound.

‘’ For podcasts, I usually start with an idea or a concept of sorts what I personally expect of a certain podcast series and start digging through all the amazing artists and labels to find something that suits that concept. This can take as little as a few hours from start to finish but also has been taking me a few months and that is not in a bad way. I remember a friend of mine told me when I started DJing, that DJing is not about beat-matching perfectly but about selecting and flow and storytelling. ‘’

“Chimhyangmoo” means dancing in the smoke that rises while burning the noble incense of ‘Agarwood’.

Klara Vedis was joined by Solarythm for a surprise B2B session straight from the HQ in anticipation to the second hour which was a prequel for the upcoming release V.A "Chimhyangmoo" on Korean label Oslated. Label DJ S-Pill cooked up a special mix for that occasion, consisting only of tracks from that particular release!

MTRL (material) is an art project by Lukas Weinlein. Fascinated by immersive audiovisual experiences, he explored the universes that exist, painted in so many different styles of music. This insightful journey shaped his current understanding of music and ultimately led him to the endless possibilities of hypnotic electronic music, inspired by the infinite cosmos and organic voices of nature. Having bonded with a multitude of great artists helped to refine his style and created a sphere of inspiration around him. The permanent exchange of ideas and skills with other artists helped to transform MTRL into a still developing transmedial art project . The name for this specific art project was chosen because of the definition of the word material: "the matter from which a thing is or can be made" - It fits the purpose of the project very good. The aim of MTRL is to create an audiovisual experience from existing or non-existing matter for open-minded brains. Together with Dycide and Polygonia he is one of the minds behind the label IO. His various releases are played by some of the most established artists of the Hypnotic and Deep Techno scene.

Sam Wilson is the founder of Dosis Records, an independent Chilean techno label that develops a deep, hypnotic, experimental sound.
He started DJing in 2017 and producing in 2019, something that has led him to make his own event planner; Black Spot Chile, in two cities of southern Chile, and Dosis Records Showcase in Espacio 93, the most recognized techno club in the country. Sam is the main host of Extracorporeal Therapy podcast by Dosis Records, which is a monthly radio show on Fnoob Techno Radio.

Axis Operandi [Biotechnology | Poland]

Leader of music platform and series of events - Biotechnology which is focused on promotion of psychedelic, cosmic, organic and hypnotic sounds in techno and broadly defined electronic music. 
Co-founder of the Densiflora platform, which promotes cross-genre electronica with dreamy, groovy sounds. His selection is best described by the projects he is behind. Within techno music he is looking for the bridge between a deep, trancey, minimalist sound and broken or tribal beats. In his DJ and promoter activity he tries to convince his listeners that sets grown out of techno do not have to be mainly strong or mainly dark in their expression, that there is space for a whole range of emotions in the 4/4 area. 
He performed at events signed by such brands as Up to date festival, Instytut, Revive or LAS festival. He shared the stage with such artists as eg. Edit Select, Steffi, Valentino Mora, Shlomo, AWB, Setaoc Mass, Svarog, VSK, Freddy K or Justine Perry.

Originally released in 1994. L.S.G.’s ‘Blueprint EP’, containing “Hearts” and “Blueprint” remains an undisputed reference for a whole musical genre. It was one of the most successful releases at the time and indeed a blueprint for things to come. The man behind L.S.G. and other projects is Oliver Lieb, one of the most talented producers of electronic music. The two tracks perfectly showcase L.S.G.’s eerie sound creations in a perfect production and all his science works at its finest in this EP. “Hearts” is a heart-breaking tune with a distorted line and a melancholic harp evolving. “Blueprint” adds even more depth, tension and mystery before launching its amazingly gated synths and this famous little melody. It's unbelievable how perfect the sounds are, both on the musicality/harmony and mixing/mastering. The Blueprint EP has been remastered by Oliver Lieb in 2025.
