In the vast expanse of the universe, beyond the reaches of our known reality, lies a realm of infinite layers, each harbouring its secrets and mysteries. The rhythmic pulse of Dub Techno finds its resonance within this intricate web of cosmic dimensions.
At the heart of this sub-universe is a clandestine gathering known as the Assembly of Frequencies. The Assembly comprises beings from diverse corners of the cosmos, united by their shared affinity for the ethereal realm of sound. They convene within an interdimensional chamber, concealed within the fabric of space-time, to explore the harmonic tapestry that connects the layers of existence.
Each layer of the sub-universe is a universe in itself, woven together by celestial threads of energy and vibration. The Assembly of Frequencies seeks to decipher this interplay, unlocking the underlying harmony reverberating through the cosmic corridors. Their ultimate quest is to unveil the primordial composition that binds all layers together—a symphony of existence.
Within the Assembly, a luminary named Synchrona emerges as a critical figure, possessing an innate ability to discern the rhythmic patterns within the fabric of the sub-universe. With their transcendent perception, Synchrona serves as a bridge between the layers, traversing the borders of reality with grace and precision. They delve deep into the subtleties of Dub Techno, decoding the frequencies that resonate within the spaces between dimensions.
As Synchrona's understanding deepens, they realize that Dub Techno mirrors the intricate architecture of the sub-universe. Its pulsating beats mimic the vibrations of celestial bodies, while the ethereal echoes and reverberations embody the intangible connections that bind the layers together. Dark matter cannot be seen or observed in any way, yet it is there and holds everything together, contributing more than a quarter of the total mass-energy of our universe. Such an unexplored, obscure entity has such a huge impact on our entire existence, which seems fascinating and frightening at the same time. But don’t despair! Our adept Nera is here to explore the dark phenomenon from all angles. 

Hailing from the outskirts of Amsterdam, Nera is managing editor of the renowned platform Minimal Collective, which fruitfully operates at the intersection of music, art and technology. But not only that: She also leaves her mark on the scene with her own musical vision and her well-balanced selections of psychedelic rhythms and progressive gems with perfectly timed trips into the depths of layered emotive basslines.

Nera lifts off with repetetive and minimalist structures that get soon combined with eerie atmospheres. With the addition of more playful sounds this mix gradually builds up into a mind-bending story that visits a variety of uncharted cosmic locations, culminating in heavy bassline drivers topped by intense psychedelics. In the process, Nera is developing her very own interpretation of dark hypnotism with great class. Nomen est omen!

Rambadu’s inspiration lies in his fascination with the energetic and healing properties of sound. Years of introspection and meticulous research have shaped his ability to channel the unseen forces of our inner and outer worlds into textured, immersive and deeply hypnotic compositions. His music uses elements such as singing bowls, acoustic instruments, hardware based synthesis, which are also enriched by modulated field recordings. Rambadu’s psychedelic take on deep techno highlights his dedication to exploring the symbiosis of art, nature, and the human spirit. His recent collaborative release, ‘Sai Matika’, produced alongside the renowned Claudio PRC, exemplifies this ethos, the record inspired by nature’s sacred cycles—‘Sai’, the ebb and flow of the earth and moon, and ‘Matika’, the rhythmical sounds of air rising up from the deep. Through his eponymous label, Rambadu continues to encapsulate these values, many of the releases his own and all featuring handmade sleeves adorned by mesmerising stencil artworks.

Interestingly, early influences in Rambadu’s career include a long stint down under, where he interned at the iconic Chameleon Recordings. Under the mentorship of label boss Steve Ward, Rambadu honed his production skills and gained invaluable insights into the music industry. This experience shaped his artistic identity, inspiring him to embrace the endless possibilities in electronic music.

Dutch DJ, producer, label owner and Hypnus affiliate Rambadu joined me for episode 301 of Passing Notes to share an exciting live recording of his recent closing set at DtRm in Nisiazabu, Japan

If you were lucky enough to be there, DJ Maria's deep, transcendent trip likely remains etched firmly into your memories. Her legendary Saturday evening set has rightfully earned its place as a celebrated piece of Monument Festival’s history. Reflecting on her experience, she shared:

“..One of those unforgettable memories is Monument Festival. It was one of the best festivals of my life, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to perform in such a dream-like setting..”

Monument Festival 2024: DJ MARIA.

We're happy to be back with our mix series. This time we have a session by Parisian artist BLNDR (Hypnus Records) with a sophisticated and meticulous selection, immersing us in an hour of deep and tribal techno, which is his specialty. Tom is a close friend of the label who made an incredible remix of MB4, one of the tracks that are part of Seph's album entitled Ulizen.
