The sound of hearts lying in the dark 
Hoping the feelings last
When you’re young you tend to run
From the bad, the hurt, the pain
It’s before you know what life ends up to be
& you’re wishing to forever be nine-teen

Take me back to when we had to nowhere to go
Searched the streets for any place to call home
Now we’re older and we’ve built all that we have
Life’s good but I still miss living like that 

Slamming doors and making more 
Of a mess than you had to
Looking back, you realise that 
Now that you’re twenty-two 
When you’ve had you’re share of bad
The real kind, oh you realise
You had it good before, when you believed 
You’d get to forever be nine-teen
