Freerotation is a festival we've played for the last seven years. It's the only festival we've played so regularly, and it's an incredibly special place to all three of us.
 
This is the first time we've shared a recording of a set the three of us have played in a club or festival setting, and it feels right that it is a recording from there. This year we played the penultimate set on the final night in the second room, before Objekt closed it out (which you can hear here - https://soundcloud.com/keinobjekt/freerotation-2015-closing-set). Unfortunately the final 15 minutes were lost, but this is almost the entirety of our three hour set.

Here's the recording of my DJ set from the Hessle Audio 10th Birthday celebration at Bussey Building on 13th October. I took it real slow to offer a contrast to Objekt and Call Super absolutely shelling it upstairs! Going so slow was particularly fun and it was an honour to play on such a huge bill of artists. So, thanks to the Hessles and Hydra for having me and bigups to all that came, danced and cheered - it shall definitely be a special night to remember in years to come!

His detailed approach to rhythm and “relentlessly tribal” sound is one that caught the attention of highly respected labels such as the mighty Hessle Audio, Batu's Timedance and that British stalwart, Hemlock Recordings.

For his Dimensions mix, Ploy (aka Sam Smith) brings a similar distinctiveness to the table, that whilst differing from his production output, comes from an equally unique and recognisable place. While Phon.o is savoring the tropical climate of India and Thailand, his new cut for Cultivated Sound is anything but— he serves an icy, ethereal, kaleidoscope of broken techno that will put you in a contemplative yet lifted mood as you round out the end of 2018. 

 Hailing from Berlin, Phon.o has worked as a producer and DJ for nearly 20 years, where critics and writers have described his diverse sound as “dark,” “stripped down,” “beautiful and industrial.”

Afrodeutsche’s music is a collision of many different worlds. She herself is British born, but with Ghanaian, Russian and German heritage, while her influences and inspirations span classical piano, film and documentary music. Based in Manchester, she is a composer and producer with a regular show on NTS that explores her love of techno and electro and which goes from dark and tough to jacked up and broken. 

Her mix for us is a 90 minute excursion through her musical mind: it’s a busy one that veers from ghostly ambiance to serrated machine music. While a subtle hardcore nostalgia colours the airwaves one moment, decidedly forward facing bass music will twist you inside out the next, and the whole thing is run through with a sense of menace and mystery that is perfect for shady, strobe-lit clubs.
