Outside the Cage

Barb's Freshman solo offering, The Fighter, is a quasi concept album that elevates and jerks you through the emotional highs and lows of falling in and out of love, struggling to remain creative in the face of turmoil and strained relationships, and maybe more than anything, battling (and eventually surrendering to and making peace with) the shadows that lurk within all of us. While much of the album artwork depicts the physical conflict, this record is ultimately about accepting that the flip side to shining brightly is knowing the darkest dark, and that we must embrace the eternal balancing act that is required to keep ourselves from plunging into the depths or floating so high that we are no longer grounded and we lose our authenticity. The balance bar that appears repeatedly throughout the record is hope.

So the message here is this: Whatever you're going through, hang on to whatever little spark you can find, because on the other side of the darkness there is light. I promise.

Barb Carbon is a folk/roots-rock musical artist from Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She performs as a solo act, as well as with her musical partner, Arrie Bozeman, in the band The Ain’t Sisters. Carbon’s influences are rooted in the beautifully raw, gritty sounds of Shovels and Rope, The Avett Brothers, and Lucinda Williams, and the earnest, inspired songwriting of Patty Griffin, The Indigo Girls, and Brandi Carlile, among others.

Barb makes music that is as accessible as it is personal. A masterful poet, Carbon is able to strip away the layers of her own experience, exposing the nerve and laying her finger on the emotional essence of our shared struggles and hopes. 

Boldy exploring genres, she delivers her art dressed with a punk rock edge, an alt-country drawl, or the trappings of kick drum-driven Americana, but at the core of her diverse catalogue beats the heart of folk music, which has always existed for the same reason - to tell our truth.

No Hero

Florida based artist, Chasing Jonah is the Alternative Indie/Pop project and stage name for vocalist & composer, Ashley Dudukovich. Known for her haunting vocals and cinematic compositions, Chasing Jonah has also been musically compared to artists such as Florence and the Machine, Of Monsters and Men, as well as Lana Del Rey. Chasing Jonah released her debut album “Prelude” in 2014. This collaborative and fully-orchestrated project produced by Brock Berryhill & Evan Coffman (Twenty One Pilots, Tyler Ward, Warner/Chappell Nashville) brought with it a critically acclaimed music video and launched an unexpected, whirlwind tour. Through continued touring, Dudukovich accumulated the necessary support to release new material such as her most recent singles, Paycheck, War Paint, as well as The Sentence. War Paint has been well received and featured on the popular FOX series, Lucifer (Season 2) as well as Nickelodeon’s Mysticons (Episode 1).
