Chás (pronounced Chase) is the author of dreams and fantasies untold. This songbird possess a rugged, yet sweet sound, condensing life’s joys and challenges into lyrics that touch us all, projecting the beauty of storytelling through song. Music is her refuge, the studio is her sanctuary, and the stage, her platform for aesthetic expression.

Chás is the epitome of legendary singers and songwriters that you come across every now and then. She has a talent that stimulates a nostalgic essence, both calm & cool with a twist of sass, best described as BoHo Badd. She brings elements of the unheard to life. Making room for a whole new sound. Chás rocks to the beat of her own drum—blending soulful sounds, colorful lyrics and airy melodies to hard-hitting Indie inspired compositions.

Chás has been performing since the age of 5 competing in talent shows both locally and nationally. In 2001, she was crowned Miss Illinois in “Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens” in addition to winning first place at Showtime @ the Apollo and a plethora of local talent competitions. Though Chás embraced the live performance scene with open arms, a chance meeting with a local rap group at the age of 16 galvanized her interest in studio recording. Her love for writing manifested when given the opportunity to have her work placed on an R&B mixtape compilation at age 17. Her journey with music has been bittersweet, with many ups and downs. At one point she even considered walking away completely, but life lessons and experiences in the industry have made her much more focused and driven.

Joining forces with producer Byron Harden aka Stico von Drake, Chás returned to the studio flourishing as a writer, singer and storyteller; shedding inhibitions and sharing her personal stories. After completing her EP entitled “Chás This…” she quickly followed up with her most recent LP “Syxteen16” which symbolizes her birthday falling on the 16th in the year 2016. ‘Syxteen16” is Chás’ musical re-awakening as an artist transitioning spiritually, emotionally, personally and musically.

From Chicago’s South Side, music artist Shawnee Dez intently engages her audience, encouraging energy exchanges first and foremost. Dez is concerned with ancestral knowledge  and performance as an opportunity to channel and communicate with the past and future. Her music style consists of heavy use of harmonic layering, a fusion of live instrumentation with digital production, topped off with her dynamic multi-ranged alto melodic voice, creating the perfect dreamscape. 
When off the stage, Shawnee’s work centers youth and community advocacy. She activates spaces for creative youth to express unapologetically. In June 2020, Shawnee organized a mass Pre-Juneteenth Black Joy bike ride through Chicago’s Metropolitan area. This ride was a symbol of liberation and mobility, during a time where many were heavily limited by the horrifying effects of two pandemics: systemic racism and COVID-19.

Sam Thousand (formally known as Sam Trump) is a multi-instrumentalist, singer/writer, producer/composer and a 3Arts Recipient with 15+ years of experience in live performance art, curation, and self management. Since picking up the trumpet at age 7, his artistry has allowed him the opportunity to perform in all corners of North America as well as overseas.

Sam Thousand has become a fixture in Chicago’s music scene through various stages from the Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park to a cozy nook in a low-lit speakeasy in Fulton Market. 
He has maintained years of performance residencies, and has curated special events from tributes to artist showcases. In addition to performing and curating, he has served as a booking manager to facilitate performance opportunities for other musicians. Sam Thousand is co-founder of multiple Chicago-based organizations, and is a business owner and entrepreneur. Everywhere he goes, he brings a sophistication that engages & uplifts.
