MasterManiac - Find Yourself [Superordinate Music]

Guy J's launch of Early Morning marked a bold step towards ushering in a new era of creative advancement. The label's ninth installment features Tantum's debut, comprising three tracks that collectively span nearly 22 minutes.

Tantum, known for blurring the lines between melodic techno and progressive house, has cemented an international reputation for his innovative sound in the electronic music sphere.

The title track, Out of Nowhere, embodies the notion that inspiration somehow often strikes unexpectedly. However, Tantum's hypnotic creation reflects countless hours of meticulous sound exploration and idea refinement.

Continuing with Unblur, the track builds on its predecessor with added energy, abstract effects, and creative audio engineering, crafting a psychedelic mosaic where bass and drums stand as steadfast anchors.

Rounding out the release is Out of Nowhere (Subandrio Remix), expertly crafted by DJ and producer Subandrio, whose upbringing across Europe and Sri Lanka infuses diverse cultural influences into his work. His remix not only honors Tantum's vision but also adds a distinct character, seamlessly merging two artistic perspectives into a cohesive whole. A regular across the clubs of his homeland, Bahrein in Buenos Aires, Dorian Gray in Córdoba and Mendoza in Tucuman, Berni is no stranger to spellbinding sonic journeys behind the decks as well as magical production work in the studio.

Now making his Proportion debut, “Echoes of Lotus” is stunningly arranged into an “Intro Mix” that gently gathers pace after a stunning beatless opening that showcases an array of rippling arp, cadenced pluck and sweeping pad textures. A heavy beat enters the fray at the 2-minute mark, heralding a strong rhythmic framework for the free-flowing melodic textures that sit atop as hi-hats and shakers create subtle dancefloor intensity. Waxing and waning with ease, the track is a prescient reminder of Berni’s impressive talent.

Partner track, “Obsidian Bloom” opens with more traditional club-friendly characteristics as a four-to-the-floor kick creates a sturdy backdrop for ticking hi-hats and syncopated bassline to form a dark and dynamic foundation. A swirling lead adds sonic intrigue as it rises and falls with filtered intensity, sharing its space with a huge sweeping pad and white-noise effects. A stripped-back breakdown provides a moment for reflection as the third movement erupts via a filtered snare-roll, before dropping back into the powerful groove and a new immaculately placed melody that takes the track in an energising new direction in the second half.
