It's another HOT day in the House of Pickles and, predictably, Paul and Eli aren't coping with it very well. Even after deciding to keep this episode very simple, it soon careens into heat induced nonsense. This week, Paul brings along an intriguing Tales from the Shop that keeps them both guessing until the bitter end. The Cheap Chaps also return, finally, to the “Froth Shop” and find a few changes since their last visit. It's under new management and Eli could not be more disappointed! Finally, it's only fair to warn you that one particular “Froth Shop” item creates an earworm that Paul & Eli milks for everything it's got. It may be their mental breaking point. With Eli melting in the heat and Paul in full on "tinker" mode, it's another unhinged edition of CheapShow...

Ep 240: The Fish Shop Song

Sometimes it's nice to have a nice and chilled episode of the podcast, isn't it? After the heat induced madness of last week, the Cheap Chaps are in a much more reflective and incisive mood. After a tat packed edition of Price of Shite, the boys also take a look at more strange and wonderful novelty pieces of music. It all sounds absolutely lovely. They reflect on Morecambe & Wise, the joys of Spam, try to figure out what "Monopoly Deal" is supposed to be and listen to the charming middle-class wit of impressionist Rory Bremner. Eli and Paul also listen to an 80s deep cut track that spoofs self-help gurus and comes backed up with an impressive amount of talent. You see? Lovely stuff, all sourced from charity shops. At no point does Eli kick off and go to the CheapShow HR department to complain about Paul. Even though Paul runs HR. And everything else. It's a nice show. Honest.

"You're the Doctor" declared the advert for classic board game "Operation", but this week on CheapShow Paul and Eli are the Doctors instead, and it's not going to end well for poor old Cavity Sam! In a heart pounding "Gannon's Golden Games" segment, the Cheap Chap battle to become the very best at removing small plastic pieces from a toy with a tweezer! It's thrilling stuff. We promise! Meanwhile, around the back of the Willy Wanka's Candy Shop, Juicy Jeremy is waiting for you at the secret Soda Jerk Store. He's got some cheap and tasty new drinks to share and some of them are even quite nice! Willy, however, seems to have revealed a new, disgusting side to his character! With all this going on, it's no surprise that Paul is finally losing his mind. Will Eli behave himself for just one episode? For Paul's sanity, we hope so!

It's been a while, but Paul & Eli have managed to trick... Sorry, convince a guest to join them for another edition of the economy comedy podcast! This week, comedian and actor Imran Yusuf visits CheapShow to wade into the sticky swamps of nostalgia. A strange charity shop discovery unearths an item that overindulges in the "good old days" of the 1970s. It's a bag of reproduced 70s ephemera that allows the cheap chaps and co the chance to ask "was it really all that good" in the past? The answer is no. Elsewhere, Paul has tailored a "Price of Shite" to suit Imran's love of video games, but can he guess the correct costs of these weird and wonderful pieces of tat? Eli is on hand to "help" and offers a top prize!

Why are Cream Crackers called "Cream Crackers"? The answer may surprise you. Unless you know already. Obviously. It's another back to basics episode this week when the Eli reveals his latest "Tales from the Shop Floor", but he isn't the only DJ with a few stories to share! Has Eli been usurped? CheapShow is back at Soho Radio Studios to record another episode with a lovely new guest. Although he's been a fan of the pod for a while, we can't help but feel he isn't ready for the "real thing" and he soon finds himself caught in a torrent of rants, arguments and impromptu new characters. The poor guy! 

Ethan Lawrence, from TV shows such as the award winning "Afterlife" on Netflix and C4's "Bad Education" finally joins the economy comedy podcast for games, chat and horrors. He's also brought with him his own curated Price of Shite! Paul & Eli are pitted against each other for high stakes p'twing action, but will they get ANY p'twings at all? Paul has a fun new Gannon's Golden Games that asks a simple question... What Came First? It's not as easy as you may think, and certainly not as easy as Eli thought it was going to be. And speaking of Eli... If he ever offers to tell you his dreams, decline politely and move on with the conversation. Ethan and Paul definitely regret asking him. But how bad can it be?

Ep 247: What Dreams May Cum

The 1st generation CheapShow characters have been blown up, stored in a bubble universe, discovered in a mysterious box, buried in a paranormal forest and then escaped from a puzzle packed suitcase... and now they are roaming South London! What's going on? This is meant to be a podcast about celebrating the treasure amongst the trash, not a lore heavy quasi-sitcom? Paul & Eli need answers and decide to go on a safari to hunt these characters down and get some answers! Using "an app" Paul has made to track them, they wander along a river and head to Beckenham Place Park. However, one quick drinking session later and it all goes out the window and descends into loud arguments, an impromptu Gannon's Golden Games, a pathetic snack taste test and a long climb up a small hill. But where are the characters? Only one has the answers, but will Paul & Eli like what they hear? Do they ever?
